 What did you do to **** her off that she backed into your truck lol. Never encountered this but would prob depend on your collision deductible vs. how much damage was done.

Been here before , it was easier to just come out of pocket cash rather then go threw insurance , depending on how much damage was done

She claims it was in drive lol and I’ll post a picture of it tomorrow

What happened? Just the front bumper?
I bought a new one from the dealer and replaced it myself... it wasn't easy but with some help from a friend, you can do it.
You're going to have to take all the hardware from the old bumper (whatever is salvageable) and move to the new one, the new bumper is just a shell, nothing more.

Probably too soon to look for used parts www.car-part.com

Mine side swiped my truck and then when backing up away from it crunched the bed lol. Just paid out of pocket to keep the peace in my household.

Been there. Wife was pissed at me and used the front of her vehicle to take it out on the front of mine. Luckily it only messed up some paint but didn't actually break anything. I hate to think what might have happened if we would have been on pavement, but since we were parked on gravel she couldn't get any traction and the damage was minimal. I just paid for the repair out of pocket because I was too embarased to talk to my insurance agent. :giggle:

Here’s the damage

Yea your better off paying out of pocket if you can swing it. While you can claim it on your insurance without any issue, it’s such a small amount of damage that your going to raise your rates for nothing basically. And your deductible will probably eat half the cost of just buying the parts.

Agreed, fix it yourself if you can, or get prices from local body shop. The damage isn't great, but most likely not so bad that you should get insurance involved.

You would like to think that is what insurance is for, but most agree you should reserve insurance for more significant damage. Ive heard they look at quantity of claims almost as much as cost of claims to determine your rates. A $1500 repair can carry the same weight as a $25k repair, to them a claim is a claim.

Good luck!

I would think a good shop could get that in good shape for what your deductible would be anyways...as long as nothing had to be replaced.

First off, I have no real experience working in a body shop. But, I've done a lot of backyard body work on my own vehicles, as well as gotten several estimates on this type of repair. It all depends on how good of a job the OP wants on the repair. One thing in his favor, as far as parts replacement goes, is the fact that the bumper is painted. Much easier to repair painted metal than chromed metal. Bang out the dents, fill any imperfections, and repaint. The other "hidden" potential issue is the bumper mounts. It's likely that they got tweaked when this happened. So if a new or straigntened bumper were to be fitted, it's likely that it wouldn't fit without fixing the mounts as well. And even then it might not fit like it did when new. Definitely do-able without replacing parts, but I suspect most body shops would provide a quote with new parts included.

Update I took it to the dealership for ****s and giggles for a quote ended up being $2,491 to replace the bumper and the grill since she broke some clips that hold the black lines in place the grill itself is $747 in case anyone’s wondering

Last 4 vehicles my wife had I’ve fixed the rear of every one . I’m not going to mention the garage door or my mothers car. I try to never use the insurance unless it’s going to be some major cash.

Needless to say I ordered a Westin pro mod bumper instead

That's a smart move, perfect time to upgrade the bumper and the wife can't say anything about it because she wrecked it . Well done sir!
