AC draining into front passenger floorboard

Mine wasn't leaking, but because of all the talk about it, I put this on there.

These are 5/8"

This is exactly what I've been looking for. Thanks!

We got updates...

I was able to slide a small piece of garden hose over the drain on the engine side of firewall and then drove the truck running errands for several hours without any leaks. I believe this has stopped the water from running back inside the cab along the bottom of the drain pipe. The simplest solution is usually the best solution.

I haven't done anything permanent to alter the vehicle in any way. I haven't taken anything apart or damaged/altered/changed or deleted anything! Just want to make that clear for any legal minds that might be lurking. ;)

I guess I'm just confused as to how putting a hose or elbow on the firewall side of the drain tube fixes it? If the water is coming from inside the truck and making its way out...how does something on the end of the tube stop it from coming back inside the truck? The water has to make it out of the drain tube and down the hose or elbow to drip to the ground right? So if it doesn't make it that far and sloshes back inside, how is that fixing it?

Think of the water like a line of ants. It exits out the tube, "crawls" around the bottom of the tube opening, and runs back inside the cab along the under-side of the drain tube. The surface tension of water allows it to cling to the tube in this way. Adding a hose to the drain tube prevents this from happening.

AHhhhh I see what yall are saying now. That made more sense. I was picturing the water just going to the edge of the tube and not quite exiting the tube but instead just rolling back inside the tube back into the cab and causing the leak from there. This made better sense to me lol

Try the 5/8” elbow that was posted on here and report back if it’s solved the “leak”

I did order the 5/8" elbows on the Jungle website. With the EcoDiesel emissions, it's a tight fit to get one on. Right now, still running a piece of garden hose on the drain because it's got a thinner sidewall and much more pliable, especially with a little heat. Either way, the "drain extender" seemed to have fixed the problem. Thanks for the help and the elbows.

I put a piece of wire loom with a zip tie on mine - has worked perfect ever since lol.

I know this is an older post but thought I’d share. Had this issue on my 4th gen. Water even leaking into the cab in passenger floor. Bought one of those skinny reusable straw cleaning brushes from the dollar store and stuck it in the ac drain on the fire wall and couldn’t believe how much water came out. Thanks everyone here for the useful tips

Just adding my peice. I never had noticeable amounts of water in the cab at all, but was constantly getting that musty smell. For $10 at AutoZone I grabbed the elbow recommended above Dorman 46051, and seems to have solved the issue for now. It’s a bit of a snug fit but extends the drain just far enough away from the firewall.

I did the simple $10 mod. Added the Dorman 46051 hard rubber elbow, 5/8 but had to cut a slit to get it to go over the AC drain tube. I couldn't get my calipers in there, but I'd swear it's closer to 3/4" then 5/8 OD. Also added a hard rubber down tube to below the frame so no water is running down the fire wall or can get on the cat/exhaust or in the frame. Over kill, I know, but why not!. It does appear on my 2024 that the stock tube sticks out a bit farther then other pictures I've seen and so maybe their catching up over there in Ram engineering. 20240626_191944.jpg20240626_194551.jpg20240626_174420.jpg

be careful blowing too much air, I don t know what it looks like inside but with other vehicle it can separate any hoses etc further in. fyi.

It’s a full time gig keeping w/ you Bo-Bearski. This will be a fun weekend project.

Hello, new to the site. 2021 Ram 1500 Air Conditioner drains into the front floorboard instead of through the firewall. 2400 miles on the truck. I can feel air coming out of drain and the occasional drip of water, but virtually all water is draining into the front passenger floorboard. With the truck idling and A/C on, I can watch the water rolling down from under the black rubber mat that goes up the firewall. Anybody hacked this problem on a new truck. Thanks.View attachment 107263View attachment 107264
There are two drains located on driver and passenger side of firewall. Those tend to get clogged up with debris preventing drainage.
