I will be returning to the dealership this weekend. I was told there is a relearn that I can still try. If I don't get the support you will be my first contact.

Hello Jmajercz18,

Thanks for letting us know. We'll keep our eyes peeled for your updates.

It has not in the last 4000 miles and I have been waiting for it. So far so good. Before the update could get it to do it easily just by slowing down to 3mph and then hitting the gas gently. Not anymore.

Hi Ewiz,

Just wanted to let you know that I am experiencing the same issue that you describe. I am preparing to take my truck in for the first time to have this issue looked at along with a number of other minor issues I have with the vehicle. If I have any luck, I'll be sure to pass along the info in this thread.

Dustin
I had my truck serviced a couple of weeks ago, and they performed the TCM, ECM, and HCP (Hybrid Control Processor for eTorque) updates to my vehicle to address the transmission issue. I can say that it is noticeably better, but still not as smooth as I'd expect. I'm hoping this isn't the end of the software updates and they continue to smooth things out over time. My issues that remain include: hard shifting out of park, hard "restart" using auto stop/start, and some transmission lagging when slowing down and speeding up again (rolling stops, quick stops and then accelerations, etc.). Guess we'll give it a bit and see if others report issues.

So, as I head back to the dealership this week to address some of the issues I still have, I'm unsure about what TCM update I received last time I had my truck serviced. The most recent TSB that I found on this forum - 21-002-19 - appears to show the Labor Operation number of 18-19-05-KY. My paperwork from my dealer shows a different code from my service dated 03/18/2019 - 18-19-05-LB. I wasn't able to find this Labor Operation number on any of the other TSBs posted here, so I'm wondering how to find out whether this is the most recent update or not. The other two updates I had - PCM and ECM - had Labor Operation numbers that matched the TSBs I printed, which is why I'm confused about the TCM one. Any insight would be appreciated!

This is exactly what it feels like on my truck. If I come to a stop, regardless of a quick/hard stop, or soft and slow one - I get a 'thump' as soon as I let off the brakes. This would happen on drive shafts with slip yokes (think a splined attachment on the drive shaft, that slides in and out of the transmission, done intentionally to account for the natural movement of the axles and suspension while driving) as they aged or the grease on the splines themselves dried up. It just doesn't make sense on a brand new truck with <10,000 miles.

What happens once the splines are dry, is you'd get some binding as the slip yoke tries to go back to its neutral position. When the drive shaft is able to overcome the resistance/binding, it slams into place, either at the tail end of your transmission, or at the split between the drive shaft itself (these drive shafts are at least 2-piece units, maybe even 3 if there's a set of slip yokes under the rubber boot on the rear part of the shaft).

In my case, if I put the truck in neutral before coming to a stop, it doesn't do it, until I put it back in drive - which has led me to believe it's a cascading effect of the way the transmission and torque converter behave, and uber-long drive shaft set up on a 244" long vehicle.

This.

Please share as much as possible. I’m 99% certain mine is drive shaft slip yoke related. I don’t wanna go back and forth with the dealer for weeks.

That recall, which is now being posted everywhere, has nothing to do with the DT trucks, it's only for the "Classic" DS body style Rams

19 ram big horn. 1200 miles. shifting seems a bit erratic or harsh. also, hard shift from park to drive a few times already. if this was an older vehicle, i'd say its a vacuum leak bc that's how it feels. anyone else having this problem? (if its a problem)

I have not experienced either since owing my Ram for just over a month. As a matter of fact, I have not had most or many of the issues of those who bought there 2019 Ram early on. Shifting from park to drive or reverse and back has always been smooth since I've owned the truck which currently has 2600 miles. I will says, after installing the Pulsar tuner, the shift logic has improved considerably especially in Tow and Performance mode both on acceleration and deceleration...

Have then check the transmission fluid level. I asked them to at my first oil change (10,000 miles) and they found it "one quart" low (who knows how low it actually was). I told them the trans felt like it was low because on Start / Stop events, when it got rolling again, there was a delay that felt like a slip. It's better now that they set the level properly

Just throwing my hat in the ring here - my '19 Rebel with 3.92 gears does the same thing; the 2-1 Downshift handoff is sloppy at best. I haven't visited a dealer for my first oil change / recalls yet, so this will be on the list of things to get updated

The amount of time for a downshift I would say is a solid 'One-Mississippi" and change before I see the '2' gear indicator show '1'. If I wait to see it shift, it takes off without hesitation, but otherwise it slams from 2-1.

I'm assuming this eTorque update is in the TSB thread? I'll head over there next to see what's what, didn't know there was an update out there. Thanks!
Well worded with watching the gear indicator and counting. Mine is the same, 3.92 as well. If I try to take off before I see it showing it has made it to first, it feels stuck between gears and I won't move, clunk, vroooom. And I don't have a heavy foot.

I know this is a older thread but I'm still experiencing this trans issue with it not downshifting into 1st unless stopped for a full second. Sometimes it's still in 3rd when accelerating from a quick stop, whether or not I'm pulling a trailer which greatly accentuates the problem. Down right dangerous when in traffic. Anyone get this resolved?? I've been to 3 dealerships over the past 2 years and it's been reprogrammed twice.
I could tell a difference but after a day or two out was back to its old ways.
2019 Rebel 5.7 W/ Etorque.
