Good Evening,

I'm looking at lifting my Ram after having a leveling kit installed. I am unhappy with the results. I have reached out to my local off road shop and they recommend the BDS kit.
What 6" lift kits do y'all recommend and why? I've really considering rough country mainly due to price but I'm not sure of the ride quality.

I'm working on putting a lift together now. This is what I've learned. No complaints from anyone I've talked to that has a BDS or Fabtech kit. Talked to a few others who have Procomp and RC and they've all said they're happy with the kits but ride quality could be a little better. Talked to one guy with a Zone kit and he said he's really happy with it, no complaints.

With that said, my off road guy told me he doesn't do RC lifts anymore because he's had nothing but complaints on them. He sticks to BDS, Fabtech, Procomp & Zone lifts now. He recommended all of those to me and said if I wanted to go BDS but didn't want to spend that amount of cash to go Zone since they are the same company and their warranties are the best. He also recommends them over others for the upgraded Fox shocks.

So now he's working on a request of mine before I pull the trigger. I'm looking at a Zone kits with UCA's, and Fox shocks in the rear. Then adding Fox struts (same ones that come in the mopar lift) to the front, he just needs to confirm the length and travel on them. I hate the idea of not having the same shocks and struts hench my idea. If it works it's a difference of almost $1200 vs a BDS coilover kit. In the end if my idea doesn't work, I'm just going with the coilover kit.

Hope this helps!

I appreciate your help. I’ve looked at zone but I haven’t really came across any real reviews. I almost pulled the trigger on RC lift a couple weeks back but something told me to wait. I will ask the shop to see if they recommend zone. Thanks again.

Nice, can’t wait to read your thoughts about the lift after everything is dialed in.

BDS owns Zone. BDS lifts are slightly better as they come with a better warranty. Looking at the pics between the two for our trucks, the components looks pretty much identical. The BDS May have bigger cross members tho and different rear shocks. I’d say go with BDS if you want their warranty. You can’t go wring with either.

I talked to them last week and they said the only differences between the two when using fox rears were warranty, cross members (little more beefy on the BDS kit) and a thicker powder coat on the BDS.

Well I just pulled the trigger with my guy. Going with the BDS coilover kit with DSC, deal was too good to pass up.

With that said, I confirmed with Fox on the struts that come with the mopar 2in lift. The guy was reluctant to give the info per their agreement with Mopar but he said those struts have 22 1/2 inches at full extension and 6.5 inches of travel. That's essentially the same as the struts that come on a coilover kit. He said they're basically the same thing. Pretty shocking lol. So they would absolutely work with a 6" kit. Here's how that would breakdown cost wise.

Zone 6" lift w/ rear fox & boots - $1650 best price
Zone UCA's - $499 best price
Mopar Fox 68323528AB front struts $424.60ea
Total cost without install $2998.20

That's a pretty sweet deal imo

I went procomp because it was 1500 shipped lol. And half these kits didn’t exist when I did mine. I’d probably go zone if I was going it today. Or maybe RC when it’s on sale for super cheap. And upgrade shocks on either kit, something I never did with mine.

I went with BDS 6” with UCA upgrade and Fox rear shocks. Very pleased. I liked the BDS because of their quality reputation and the available upgrades. At the time, they were also the only kit that allowed 18” wheels (all others required 20’s). I prefer a little more sidewall on the 35’s so that sealed the deal for me.

it’s funny because it only got one compliment on the original hostiles I had, it’s gotten about 5 on this setup which was literally the cheapest black wheel I could find on eBay lol, and never gotten a single compliment on the forged wheels since I’ve had them over the past ~6 months.
