I'm curious where the centre of the hitch is located in relation to the rear axle with the factory 5th wheel prep on the HD Rams. My understanding is you want the pin to be a couple of inches in front of the rear axle to aid in handling while braking and in corners.

There are some HeftyDuty owners here...but this is mainly for the 5thGen DT 1500.
That said I think it might be slightly forward of the rear axle. But I do not have it to verify
