So I was at the dealer today test driving a 2020 bighorn and came across I believe a 2017 or 18’ on the lot. The 4WD selector had 2WD, 4Auto, 4Lo, and 4Lock.

Is 4wd lock a locking differential? As in both tires spin at the same speed regardless of slippage or lack thereof? Please dumb this down for me thank you

4 lock is 4 wd high. It just means the transfer case is sending power to both the front and rear at all times.
4wd auto detects slippage and sends power as needed.
4wd low is a lower gearing for maximum pulling power and slower speed control.

In the other threads it was explained that 4wd has nothing to do with the differentials. The differentials on a 4th gen are only open or anti spin and anti spin is only for the rear.

The 5th Gen is the same except with the now available eLocker.
