First time with a 4x4, today I used it at the boat ramp to pull my boat out. When I selected 4 low it automatically switched to 4 high, does anyone know if that is normal. ?

In order to select 4lo you need to have the transmission in neutral...peferebly coasting around 2 mph.

It will engage sitting still in neutral...but sometimes it won't

And you should be fine with 4 High at the ramp. I rarely need anything other than 2 wheel at most ramps unless they are super slick or frozen, then 4 High for a few feet pulls me right up.

Really depends on trailer and boat weight, slipperiness of ramp and how good your tires are. Nothing wrong in using 4lo up and down the ramp. Not to many chances to use that feature, but if you paid for it, use it.

I have been using 4 low alot. In the mud at my camp. It alows me to just idle through so I dont risk spinning a tire.
