Ok, so I've seen a lot of posts on this, my question is the 3.92 overrated or is the 3.21 under rated as far as towing capacity ?
3100 difference ??
I'm looking at a 2019 laramie, with crew cab and 6.4 bed, but it has the 3.21 rear end gears.
Looks like around 8100 max towing.
I know I will run out of payload and GVWR as those come into play, but is this truck with the 3.21 really that much weaker pulling more weight .
Problem is , I wont tow anything near the limit 95 percent of the time. But maybe once s year or two, I want to pull a 40-50 hp utility tractor , to be purchased after truck purchase, so I'm trying to calculate that future purchase, it will be anywhere from 7500 to 9000 pounds with trailer I'm thinking.
Has anyone pulled 8000 with the 3.21 rear ?
I'm guessing it's the long distant uphills where you have to maintain momentum. that the 3.92 would excell, holding 65mph.
I really would like to know how well the 3.21 would hold speed from actual experience.
Thanks.
