Has anyone scooped up a 3.55 yet? Im going to order a new truck soon and saw that we now have a new option. It might be the perfect medium between the 3.21 & 3.92.
I run 35's and that will help me get a little bit better gas mileage and keep my rpm's down a bit on the highway.

Were are you seeing the 3.55 option?

When I ordered my truck I was interested in the 3:55 as well. The problem is, you can only get it with the V6.
3:21 and 3:92 are your only choices with the 5.7 Hemi.

3:55 is definitely a awesome medium. Best of both worlds.

The 4th gen (DS) 5.7s were available with the American Axle 9.25 in 3.55s, not sure why the new 3.55 ZF differentials are only available with the V6 in DTs.

2019 Ram 1500 Billet Silver Laramie Quad Cab 2WD, 5.7 Hemi, 8HP75, 3.21 axle, 33 gallon fuel tank, factory dual exhaust, 18” wheels. Build date: 03 June 2018. Now at: 044169 miles.

I'm in the 3.92 camp, love it. But then I'm a hopeless lead foot so the slow poke 3.21 wouldn't save me any money in any case.

The can order the 3.55 only with 3.6L V6
I am aware of this. But he said you can order it now. Just wandering were he saw this.
If it was build and price...he needs to look again at the engine.

If it was some where else...would be interested to see it.

I say get 3.92. Just going up to a 33" tire changes the 3.92 to 3.80, with a 35" tire the 3.92 becomes 3.70. Also your gas mileage is going to suck no matter what ratio you pick, the average 35" tire weighs over 60 lbs, nearly twice as much as the OEM tire

Just tried to build a Ram 1500 with 3.55 gears on the website, still only available for the 3.6L V6

This comes up every so often, the 3.55 is only with the v6.

But even if it was available I'd say it's a poor choice for the Hemi + 8 speed. It would neither give you that much better towing nor that much better mpg, kind of pointless. Just pick the 3.21 or 3.92 based on your priority; the one maximizes mpg while still giving you everything you need to pull within realisitic payloads, and the other maximizes towing while at the expense of some highway MPG. I see no point in going half way in between and gaining neither one or the other.

3.21 here. As bad as my city MPG is (due to stupid-short commute) I can’t imagine what I would get with a 3.92.

I already get around ~9-10 MPG as it is. And if I do one or two 20-mile highway drives on weekends, then it goes up to around 12 MPG.

3.21, I'm lucky if I can go 1/4 mile without stopping/starting locally (10-12+ stops in 2 1/2 miles), speed limit 25 with cameras everywhere and I mean everywhere (NYC/NYS revenue cameras), so my local mpg is 11-12 and winter gas and cold weather starts hinder the mpg another 10%. But highway is 20 + depending on road conditions, flat and straight help the mpg. Also maintaining speed limits.
