Actually, the Hurricane 3.0 I have is not any better with MPG than the 2023 Ram 1500 hemi I traded in for it. I have yet to hit 20 MPG with the 2025. Both had 392 gears as well.Keep in mind that Stellantis killed the Hemi and Hellcat for a reason. They were getting murdered on their average fleet efficiency. Even though the Hurricane is more fuel efficient, it’s still not “good enough”. So I’m sure they’re limiting how many trucks they sell with the HO engines.
Doesn't it say the average mpg is a bit over 17, with the high if you ever were only at highway speeds would be 21? Not surprising you never see 20.Actually, the Hurricane 3.0 I have is not any better with MPG than the 2023 Ram 1500 hemi I traded in for it. I have yet to hit 20 MPG with the 2025. We should do a poll see how many on this forum would choose a 6.4 in the 1500This screenshot below is from a guy who tests a bunch of these trucks, both towing and MPG performance. That hurricane is the SO too, not the HO which is probably worse yet.
Mind you I really don't care, but it shows how bad turbo gassers are vs NA. The 2.7 turbo max has only 310 hp so no surprise it's closer than the other turbos, but compare similar power numbers and the NA sits on top. So much for the tiny whizzers saving you fuel.
Time to drop a 6.4 in the lineup, lets go ram!

Yeah me too ,i have done alot of upgrades to my bighorn , but a 6.2 would be a nice option if they offer in the lower trim2 years ago I would have said something like "over 80%". A lot of guys here apparently just want power and don't care about how they get it so the hurricane comes along and takes a bite out of that.
For me the devil is in the details. Just like they reserve the HO for the bankruptcy trims, I have no doubt they would do the same with the 6.4 and personally I'm not playing that game.
I just want my tradesman/bighorn with a 6.4 and a reasonable upgrade price for the engine itself over the 5.7 (similar in size to 5.7 over 3.6).
Yea that sounds right...lolDoesn't it say the average mpg is a bit over 17, with the high if you ever were only at highway speeds would be 21? Not surprising you never see 20.
I don't see it as bankruptcy trims....the trims once over the Big horn...is not all that earth shaking difference..... But The big horn down is quite a bit of difference, but once you go as far as the cost of a big horn it's not all that much more to go up some.... Just depends on what one likes and wants. But by the time you start from a big horn then add a bunch on that could have come with higher trims, you're not saving any money much if it's not costing even more. But then some after Mkt. Parts are nicer for many to want versus the stock add-ons too. I took the back-flip bed cover off the new truck sitting in the garage drawing dust to add remote controlled retrax. Would have loved to have the option of retrax cover instead of the back-flip cover and would have saved money I lost on the back-flip. But I never ordered this truck like all others I have.2 years ago I would have said something like "over 80%". and you know the 5.7 V8 is right in there with about 20This screenshot below is from a guy who tests a bunch of these trucks, both towing and MPG performance. That hurricane is the SO too, not the HO which is probably worse yet.

I think the scat pack 6.4 motor would be an awesome option for Ram 1500. I had a 2017 6.4 Scat great running motor and got 24 and 25 MPG back and forth to work Hi way at 55 to 65 MPH. If you kept your foot out of it done fine with MPG for a fast car when you wanted it to.We should do a poll see how many on this forum would choose a 6.4 in the 1500
