2025 Ram 1500 Current Owners - Discussion, Feedback, and Problems

In regards to the power increases, that’s running E85 fuel. Power gains for 91 octane are much more modest. Having said that, I bought said tuner and it is noticeably peppier in everyday driving. I have no plans to run 93, e30, or e85 to really take advantage of the tuner.
thinking of buying the cat 6 from holley, im wondering how it does as a daily driver? do you switch it on and off as needed or is there a stock setting or just run it like normal? and by normal i mean cat 6 or jb4 installed at whatever performance setting? any issues with it? i know when i put my truck in sport mode my truck is a little wanky on take offs, shifting is hard and noticeable, is it worse with tuner?

So once you set the map/tune it stays in there until you change it. That’s assuming you don’t disconnect the tuner itself.
I keep it in map 1 and don’t notice any hard shifting or anything. Just spools up a little faster than normal.
I’ve run map 2 a couple times and didn’t notice any hard shifts there either but my experience was limited.
I don’t know how many people would run map 3 or 4 full time since you’re supposed to run E30/E85 on those tunes.

I’ve not really run the truck in Sport mode but I’ll give it a shot tomorrow.

Have been dealing with an issue/minor annoyance and dealership hasn't been able to diagnose it yet, but have been getting a bunch of "service trailer breaks systems" messages started pretty soon after picking up the truck, initially dealership cleared the code and it was good for a few hundred miles but came back intermittently, dealership said there were a few old codes and nothing they could see and recommend bringing it back when it is actively giving the message so they can better troubleshoot.

Anyone experiencing something similar? My assumption is there is probably a lose wire somewhere but who knows. Message pooped back up today when my nephew was screwing around with buttons and pressed the trailer break +/- buttons so might have some direction of troubleshooting but would love to hear if anyone has any other ideas

I’m not positive but thought there was a TSB for replacing the trailer connector in the bumper. There are wiring issues in some of them.
Search thru this forum for trailer connector/ plug.
When I get home later I’ll try to find if there is a TSB.

Use the NHTSA site. It’s valuable

Thank you! will search some more

So I had another incident where both truck batteries went completely dead overnight. This is the second time it has happened. No idea what causes it. In a bit of a joking way I thought maybe this was just their way of calibrating the batteries. Let them drain dead and then charge them full again.

Anyway, I had to hook up 2 jumpers (one to each battery) to get the truck to start. Very weird.

I cannot turn my HUD off and have it stay off.

I’ve tried turning it off and then even holding down the Memory 1 and Memory 2 buttons to save my profile.

It doesn’t seem to matter what I do. When I start the truck, the HUD comes on.

Any thoughts on how to turn it off permanently?

Well, I finally worked out a solution for this. I set the HUD for a Custom display layout and then deleted all the data widgets from all the fields on the display. So, the HUD is still "on", but it no longer displays anything.

Annoying to have to do that, but at least it's off.

I don’t get it. What’s the problem with turning off the HUD? I don’t have one but the manual tell you how.

But, also, for my curiosity, why do you dislike it so much?

Yes, the problem is that it doesn't stay off. Every time I start the truck the HUD is back on.

I don't like it because:

- it doesn't tell me anything I can't already see by looking just barely a bit lower.

- it displays on the windshield where it is "blocking" my view of part of the road. I cannot make it display on the windshield where it is blocking my view of part of the hood instead. If I try to adjust it low enough to overlay the hood instead of the road is just starts to disappear. (and I definitely don't want to see just the top half of the HUD)

My '21 had the HUD. I left it turned on for the first few weeks, to see if I would get used to it. Just like with the digital rearview mirror.

Then I turned the HUD off and never missed it. I also turned off the digital mirror, but DID miss that, so I turned that back on.

When I got my '25 I left the HUD on again for a week or two, just to see if I might feel differently. Nope. Still have no use for it.

Thanks for your opinions! I appreciate it.
Kinda crappy that it doesn’t stay off like stop/start doesn’t.

To me, the HUD is the same as the passenger auxiliary display screen - a completely useless gimmick.
My wife has one in her Highlander. The few times I’ve driven it, the uses I’ve found are:
Updated current speed limit and turn directions. But normally, I forget to look at it🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah, the current speed limit shows right at the top of my instrument cluster, too. So, I barely have to look down any further than the HUD to see it there.

I use CarPlay for nav, so it doesn't display in the HUD.

That’s weird, because it does display on the IPC.
