2025 Ram 1500 Current Owners - Discussion, Feedback, and Problems

Yea, I lived in GA for a while. used to run I16 from Macon to Statesboro where I went to school and it was pretty much wide open. I almost got caught once but the highway patol got stuck doing a turn around in the median. LOL
My experience with GA police is that they seem to always be looking for out of state license plates. Everyone can be doing 90mph and that's ok, except for that one guy doing 80mph with Jersey plates. That guy is getting a ticket. ☹️

Sounds right. Out of state gunowners that strictly follow federal law get (illegally) thrown in jail in New Jersey until they prove their innocence in court.

It is so true. Never ever drive with guns through NJ. You're basically one unplanned stop away from being a felon.

Never drive through any state thinking that you only have to follow "Federal law". You are always subject to all the laws of the state you're in.

If you get arrested in NJ for not following NJ state laws, that's on you. Either that or be prepared to appeal your case all the way to the Supreme Court.

PWU is ... flaky.

My truck has been parked for over 2 hours.

I just went out and walked right up to the driver's door. No PWU. I popped the hood and checked both batteries with a voltmeter. Both showed around 12.6V.

Closed the truck back up and walked to my garage (about 100 yards) and back.

When I walked back up to it, the PWU activated. I didn't change any settings. I didn't start the truck.

Flaky...

Of course, if both batteries are not isolated from each other, then I would expect them to show the same voltage, even if one is good and the other is "bad".

*sigh*

Regardless, PWU didn't work and then 1 minute later it did.

Flaky.

Any powerstep installers? Adapting amp research powerstep from 21 Ram 1500 to 2025 Ram 1500. Real truck gave me list of 3 parts needed, basically new electronics. Question (which they couldn't answer), will the pre-2025 OBD pass through (76405-01A) work on the 25?

I don’t know for sure, but given the new CANBUS architecture, I don’t think so. @Jimmy07 might know if he’s around

A couple things to note based on the last two pages of posts:

1) Rain sensitive wipers. Seems I'm not the only one who thinks they are not great. One theory I have: I have used various cleaning liquids on the windshield in the 4 months I've owned it, e.g. waterless wash and "quick wax." I wonder if there is residue causing the windshield to fog a bit on rainy days and confuse the sensor. It's a spitball theory.

2) Proximity Wake Up. Unlike my 2025 Big Horn turned in by Lemon Law, this Laramie has been mostly bug free with the electronics (knock on wood). To my knowledge, both batteries are going strong, and I have no indications the aux battery is dying. HOWEVER, at least the light up feature of Proximity Wake Up doesn't work at all. Turning that feature on in Uconnect does nothing noticeable. Truth told, I'm walking around the truck so much in the garage, I'd probably have to leave that feature off anyway.

My biggest complaint continues to be that the truck has been on lots since March 2024 (or earlier), and we still don't have a trailer camera to display on the Digital Rear View Mirror. It's a travesty.

@USMUSL - does your Laramie have Proximity Wake Up feature explicitly stated in UConnect? My does not. It was a bummer because as I read the manual, I thought the feature was implicitly enabled when you turned on other features, like Greeting Lights. In any case, no proximity wake up for me.

As discussed with @StuartV offline, I found the feature to be useful in one case when I needed to verify that something was or was not in the car when it was dark outside. I'd walk up to the car and check out the interior without having to open the vehicle. Was it nice? Yes. Would I lose sleep over it, probably not. But if you have the feature in your vehicle and the feature does not work as described, it is annoying.

I went out to my truck yesterday afternoon and PWU did not activate.

It then worked the rest of the day. No idea what's up with that at this point.

But, @StuartsFriend, regarding your point, I forgot to verify last night, but I *think* the interior lights don't come on from PWU anyway. I think it's only the exterior "greeting lights" and the power steps deploy. I think I have to actually unlock it (and *maybe* open a door?) for the interior lights to come on.

Oh, and @USMUSL, is your truck locked in your garage? I.e. the truck doors are locked? The PWU does not do anything if the truck is not locked.

2025 Laramie here. Please excuse the bad picture and the glare.
