Looked at a 2025 Big Horn today and noticed it had the 12" digital cluster as a stand alone option for $245. I don't see that on the online build tool.

Anyone know if you can add this option to an order? I thought this wasn't an option on the big horn.

I'd say go check that out in person, because I also thought that the best it could get is the 7 inch digital cluster along with 12 inch screen. If it is really in there that would be interesting since I wonder if it would mean it could be added into a truck that didn't come with it?

It's really there. I sat in it. It had a December build date. Must be a new option?

Wow that's insane... They tried super hard to differentiate between the trim levels.guess that might be out the window now.. but honestly I think it's going to be a tough sell since as you continue to option a Bighorn like that you're in Laramie territory with very little effort... Thanks for checking it out and verifying it.

Most all the new Big Horns are coming with the all digital 12” cluster.

By sheer dumb luck when recently looking at 25"s locally, specifically a Bighorn with just the Night Edition & Level 2 Equipment Group, I ran across the 12 cluster on 1 truck. It was the color I wanted also (Granite Crystal) so I bought it. Build date is 12-12-24. Its a great option at $245.

So out of curiosity does that cluster give the option to customize (ie switch between the dials, the navigation screen, etc)?

Yes, It has about 8 main pages & several sub screens within the main ones. It does have a nav page that shows turn by turn Directions in cluster from nav on radio screen & other info. If I understood your question??

Wow that's insane. My old 25 Lonestar had the 7" and my 25 Limited has the 12 inch with the customization. That's great that it seems Ram is taking it seriously to make things better on the lower end.

One of the nicest features about the 12 in digital display is ease of view.
I like the analog style gauges for normal driving. Speedo and tach… although I do have HUD and I split looking at the dash vs the windshield 50/50… but I press the button close to the steering wheel, and you get either 4 or 5 panels, customizable, from operating temps to tire pressure to voltage…and beyond. It’s nice to get. Quick Look at things, one press of the button, one press to get back to Speedo and tach.

regarding the navigation/turn by turn, if you utilize the on board navigation system, yep..
But if you’re like me and use Apple Maps via Car Play, the navigation in the cluster is pointless.

Wow, I guess they are trying to match Ford that puts the digital cluster in everything now, even the XL.

Out of curiosity with that 12 inch cluster on the big horn/Lonestar did they start to also have the tilt mirrors in reverse and proximity lock/unlock?

I added the 12" digital cluster as a standalone on my 23 Laramie - it became a standalone option a few days after I ordered and the salesman was able to add it. I liked it and made sure to get it on my 25 (standard now on a Laramie Level 2) Brother in law saw it is an option on the Bighorn as well like you say. I agree for $245 it is a good value.

No tilt mirrors on my Bighorn w. 12in cluster, just the regular size tow mirror w. one pc of glass& small dome stick on looking attached

I agree with ya 100%, The factory nav needs some additional refinement compared to Apple maps. But I love a few things they did, like allowing frequent addresses to be placed into a widget box for quick access to a route, but really dont need nav to drive to frequent locations but the time of arrival, traffic, etc is handy. I'm still trying to get used to the truck as a whole currently so trying to purposely avoid Apple maps just to see how intuitive it is.

My issue with the factory Nav, and the advantages of Apple Maps is this…. Sooner or later, you’ll need to pay for factory Nav to get updated..
With Apple Maps via CarPlay…you don’t. I actually preferred Google Maps. But since Google Maps doesn’t work on the heads up display for turn by turn… I explicitly use Apple Maps now.
If a software update in the future yields the ability to use Google maps in the HUD, I’ll switch back gladly…

Map updates are always free for Uconnect 5, and new updates are available every quarter.
I can’t find anything to back that up. Trial period yes…but everything I’ve been able to find is a subscription based.
Do you have anything stating they’re always free AND updated every quarter?

Interested if so… and thanks!
Edit. Are you talking about manual updates via flash drive?

Manual updates only. I believe they stopped trying OTA map updates because they are too big to send over cellular, and were causing impartial install issues.

Thanks Jimmy07… I used to get updates on my 2015…then slower, then nothing…
Looks like the latest map update is 9/2024 based on the name of the file. For those that use the service, let’s hope they regularly update/keep up.

I actually have another question.
Has anyone tried to use a USB C type thumb drive to update their Maps?
