Greetings all from sunny FL!
Been reading this site for some time gleaning for info on different Ram upgrades and other things that have come up for me over time, don't recall having posted before though.
Over time I've owned a '98 single cab, '02 Hemi Quad 4x4, '21 Bighorn Hemi Quad 4x4 and now my most recent ride which brings me to post...
I bought a '25 Laramie 4x4 Crew 2 weeks ago and have been refitting it for better Alpine system speakers. The '21 Bighorn had the base 6-speaker system, on which I previously performed a total speaker swap with acceptable results all things considered.
No stranger to old car moderate audio installs and I've read probably most of the related posts I could find on past Ram Alpine upgrades others have made as to speakers and/or amp/sub swaps, etc.
For this truck, looking for simplicity via speaker upgrades and have thus far installed Infinity REF307fs in the dash corners and 693Ms (3-way) in the rear doors. Just these swaps have made a pretty noticeable improvement in overall output and definition. I also disconnected the center dash speaker for better separation.
Interestingly, I performed the battery test on my OEM rear door speakers upon removal and found they were polarized against the Metra connectors Crutchfield included with them (I had read that was more of a front door issue) - easy fix in any case and the 693Ms are a solid improvement. No issues with the ANC.
That leads me to the front doors - the OEMs have reasonably punchy bass in complement to the Infinitys but they're not as well defined in overall sound clarity - I feel like I'm leaving much on the table with them.
So I'm thinking about an Infinity 697F coaxial set for the front doors and wanted to see if anyone here has used them with good results. Or of any other essentially bolt-in speaker options which have produced a better sound clarity result - I'm not married to Crutchfield's arguably limited product offerings in this regard but their fitment research is a great resource in general.
I want to retain good bass but improve its clarity for somewhat more distinctive separation at the same time. I presume anything I swap into the front doors will require a harness polarity correction as well to avoid ANC issues.
Look forward to your thoughts!
