2025 1500 with transmission issues/disappointing

My coworker is experiencing the same issue with his 2025 Ram 1500. He’s starting to regret it now.

2025 Ram 1500 tradesman V6, same problems.
Hauling a lawn trailer every day, maybe 4000lbs.
Gas mileage horrible and no power. Does 3500 RPM at 60, doesn't want to shift in higher gear.
Have a 2016 1500 single cab tradesman V6 that doesn't have these problems, same engine and transmission. I think it's a programming issue.
Have them reflash the transmission at the first service. Has some weird electrical issues also, sometimes it can't turn it off, always gives me messages regarding the trailer connection IDK, not really impressed and we have like 4 rams in our business.

please let me know what the dealer says i am truly try and praying my blows up only way they will fix it now that its cold i am getting 12 mpg with 800 pounds in bed something aint right beside the low rpm shifting
My truck went in this morning on the 17th, the tech scanned the PCM and didn't find any codes, but he did see there is a software update. He updated the old code, "AN" to the new code "AO," cleared the DTC's, reset the adaptives and performed a "quick learn" flash. I took it for an extended drive of about 35 miles and it shifted flawlessley, no harshness or sudden gear changes. Throttle application after a rolling stop was as smooth as can be. If this behavior holds at higher tempratures, I will be very pleased with the changes the revised sw made to the overall driving experience. I will report back on my fuel mileage once I have a chance to get some miles on this programming. (currently sitting at 16mpg, mainly in town driving, 1150 miles on the clock)

how many miles you put on it so far. Been to dealer twice got two pcm and iscm updates ran good for a little bit. When i unhook batteries runs good for 150 miles. Feels like a bad stick driver and surging unless i drive and shift at 1700 rpms and lower or above 3000 rpms in the middle bad sticker driver feeling.

I have put about 100 miles on it so far. Unfortunately we got hit with that artic front (I live in N. Colorado) that dropped lots of snow after I picked it up so I haven't been able to drive it as I normally would. Will post updates after the roads clear and I can drive it normally in 2wd mode.

For what it's worth, I'm at 60K on my '19 and I've had these symptoms since new practically. I've tried leveling the fluid, performing quick relearns via AlfaOBD. Short of having the valve body switched out I think it is what it is at this point. The relearns help.

The weather finally warmed back up a bit so I could put some miles on the truck after the flash. It drove great till about 300 miles after the flash and the clunky shifting behavior has returned. (I currently have 1,400 miles on the ODO) This behavior just seems so strange to drive well after the flash then only to have the irriatic shifting return. It seems there is a definate pattern if at the 300 mile mark the shifting gets jerky again; I'm going to drive it another 300 miles or so to see how it behaves at that time. If still having problems, I will schedule another appointment to see if they can find out what's going on. As a side note, a coworker has a 2021 F-150 XLT w/the 5.0L - 10 Speed auto, and he stated he's had the same issues in his truck and have had to have his flashed 4 times w/updates over a 4 year period before the issues he was experiencing were corrected. Sad to say, this doesn't seem to be a problem limited to RAMS but to anything that is pushed out the door without being fully developed from the software perspective. I'll keep y'all posted.

i know unhook battery drive great for a few hundred miles. Mine loves the cold wether . Just gonna stick it out till something breaks or warranty runs out . Sport mode helps and driving slow or fast in between sucks well good luck . I will be back at dealer in spring when its hot all the time eventually they will fix it one of these times.

It's amazing how they can screw up a good transmission with a ****ty program. My wife drives a 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio with 145k miles on it, shifts like a dual clutch transmission, fast, never in the we wrong gear.
My 2016 ram V6 has the 8 speed also, 185k, no problems with that one. The only way to have mine 2025 to upshift with a trailer is with the throttle.
Hate doing 65mph with a trailer doing 4500rpm.
Should have bought a 2024, starting to get irritated.

After about 300 miles after the update, (1620 miles on the ODO) the shifting has resorted back to the harsh/clunky behavior in the warmer weather. We have a new RAM dealer nearby and I'm thinking about taking it there for my 1st oil change and have them look at it to see what they say. As it sits now, it's very hard to drive smoothly around town, very frustrating for sure.
