2023 Heads up Display

I'm going to take a guess on dynamic lighting. You have a Longhorn, does it have the fancy projector headlights of a Limited? They move with the steering. That may be considered dynamic lights, and you may be able to turn off that feature.
Yes, the Longhorn shares the same headlights that the Limited has. Ram has been calling them adaptive headlights since the 5th gens first came out. It's not likely they would suddenly change the name but stranger things have happened. I was assuming dynamic lighting was referring to interior lighting. :ROFLMAO: It would be nice if they would better define what these newer options and features are.

So I'm clear you are seeing a red circle on your heads up display when you hit the start button and then it changes to the white speed iimit square and shows the speed limit of the road you are on . Please also confirm your year and model of truck please
Yes, does not do it all the time. Random. I have a '23 Limited.

Yeah, mind does it after every time you turn off? The engine for at least 3 minutes and then restart it. And mind is also a twenty twenty three I just wish I knew what it means cause obviously it has some purpose, otherwise they wouldn't do that.

The Longhorn is a version of the Limited thus the naming of the Limited Longhorn and it shares the same headlamps as the Limited.

So there are two terms used by RAM but not defined by RAM that I can tell, at least in the context of the Limited and Limited Longhorn. Dynamic lighting and Adaptive Lighting.

So the best I've been able to figure on my own is this;

Adaptive Lighting is able to turn the outside LED lenses up to 15 degrees depending on the steering wheel angle and the vehicle speed. I do not see a menu item that allows the operator to enable or disable this feature.

Dynamic lighting is the ability of the fog lamps to act like cornering lamps. When the headlights are on and the fog lamps are off, when the driver activates a turn signal, the turn side fog lamp will illuminate. The dynamic setting on my Uconnect will enable/disable this feature. The cornering light feature is discussed in my owner's manual but there is no mention it can be controlled by a menu item.

If you’re truck is factory equipped with the adaptive LED projector headlights, and you do not have a radio setting named “steering directed lights”, then the dynamic lighting setting that you see is the setting that turns the adaptive projector feature on and off. It was probably just renamed in the UC5 switch, or via software update.
There is no user setting, and no way to disable the fog lamp cornering lamp feature (unless the fog lights are on via the switch).

Yes I have 2023 Rebel GT , when I hit start button on cold start I see a red circle on the window it lasts 3 seconds then changes to square with Road speed indicator. If I shut off and restart immediately it just shows square speed indicator, if I leave truck to sit for 4 min then restart then red circle shows up
I have now confirmed that this is normal as other trucks do the same I think only 2023 vehicles. Just no one knows why the red circle shows up clearly some engineer made it do that just would like to know why it does it and what it means

I have a 2022 Longhorn 1500 ECODiesel with the Longhorn Level 1 Equipment Group. I can not locate a setting for “steering directed lights”, just dynamic lighting. I want to mention, to avoid confusion, that from discussions I've seen on the RAM HD forums, the HD's have different DIC settings for lighting than the 1500.

Last night I decided to go out and find out firsthand what the DIC option "Dynamic Lighting" controls (I should have done this a long time ago). The steering-directed lighting feature was unaffected but the fog lamp on with the turn signal was disabled and enabled by toggling the "dynamic lighting" setting.

I can't speak for any other model, trim level, or model year outside of my 2022.

You would be the first person reporting since 2019+ DT rams and 2019+ HD Rams came out that there is a setting in the radio that turns off the fog lamp cornering lights (and at the same time, does not have a setting that turns off the steering directed lights).
Since you are saying it turned off the cornering fog lamps, that means I can find the raw value of that setting in the BCM using wiTECH and CDA6. I grabbed your VIN from the 22 start of production thread that I can use to flash it’s BCM configuration to one of my bench BCMs, then I can log it against a VIN Config that doesn’t have that setting. There are a lot of people that want a way to turn that feature off, and it’s just weird that you have a setting that does that, but not the setting that you’re actually supposed to have to turn off the adaptive headlights.

I can only share my observation.

Looking in my owner's manual, 2022 3rd. edition, page 240, in the Uconnect settings under lights, they list an option called "Steering Directed Lights". I do not see this selectable option on my Uconnect (12") display. What I do see listed but is not discussed in my owner's manual is "dynamic lighting, on/off" and as I stated before, it enables or disables the fog lamps (observed) with turn signal feature.

I can PM you my VIN if it would help unravel this.
