My dealer gave me a 2021 Wrangler "Willis" as a loaner while my 2020 BH was being worked on. What a huge downgrade. There's is nothing to like about this vehicle. It handles awful and it hard to keep in a straight line. There is a huge amount of road noise. It feels cheap on the inside. I feel cramped in it. I don't know why anyone would buy one if these except to off road. As a daily driver, it is horrible. Glad to be getting back my BH today. And the sticker on this is $48,900.

On the bright side, at least me dealer have me a loaner. So this is better than nothing.

95% of people who buy a Wrangler choose it because it looks cool.
5% choose it because it has amazing off road ability and they plan to use it.
0% choose it because it is a particularly good vehicle.

Realistically, Stellantis doesn’t make a lot of particularly good vehicles. But they somehow really nailed it with the Ram.

Well fortunately it's only a loaner and you're not keeping it. Just like everything else on this planet, they aren't for everyone

Last month, my dealer gave me a 2021 Jeep Compass Limited with 300 miles for a loaner. Good thing they finished the job over the weekend. I put over 500miles in the 3 days I had it :ROFLMAO: It was nice, but just too small.PXL_20210624_182746119.jpg

That's what they gave me last time.

Had a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (2019) it was a fantastic off road vehicle. Did not enjoy it on the road very much.

Yeah, if I was going to buy a vehicle for mostly off road, it'd be a Jeep. I love the look and that there are almost endless possibilities to customize for off road.

My wife has a 2019 Wrangler. I think wranglers are overpriced for what they are. I'm so used to my RAM with air suspension, her's just kills my back. They aren't bad but I couldn't see spending 50K+ on a rubicon or any other jeep.

I still have my 2001 Wrangler.

Every so often there's that rare window when the temperatures aren't so cold you get windchill above 40 mph or so hot you fry when stuck in traffic, and you can drive with the roof and doors off. Then you understand the appeal.

The soft top flaps so bad on the highway that conversation is impossible. It rides like a stagecoach and handles like a forklift. You wear out your left leg driving on the LA freeways, rowing between 1st and 2nd.

But it is fun.

Wrangler prices have exploded. They used to be a great value, not anymore

Yea, I don't think I could drive a Wrangler as a daily driver or think about using it for a road trip. Just got back from a trip in the Ram to MN 730 miles and 11 hours each way, super comfortable and not even tired at the end of it.

I had a Compass for a loaner once after my vehicle got totaled out. It was easily one of the most awful vehicles I've ever driven. Very underpowered, very noisy, cheap interior and the fuel economy sucked.

I have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. It's very comfortable even with 110K miles. Giving it to my son when he gets his license. Very comfortable on-road and really capable off-road. It does need new shocks/struts though and was a pretty quiet ride until I strapped on some larger-than-stock KO2 rubber.

Before I bought my 2020 limited, I thought I wanted a gladiator rubicon, until I drove the jeep. Crazy thing is they where damn near the same price.

My local dealership sells them around 50-60k. They have a nice modified AEV version for 68k. Way too much IMO for those things.

Agreed, especially for the way that almost everyone will use them (not off roading). Seems an extremely poor choice for a daily driver, all just to "look cool" I guess? I had a wrangler for 4 years but I broke its soul off roading it everyday for years. Otherwise I would never consider one again, I'm 6'2" and enjoy full size vehicles for daily drivers.

What I can say is back when I had my wrangler, the pricing still made sense. I bought an 02 in 2006, at that point you could still get a brand new tj (last year) for around $20,000 starting. Top trim level trucks were probably around $45-50,000 back then (guessing/trying to remember)? That price difference made sense for what you were getting vehicle wise, now they are about the same it seems. I just couldn't see paying anywhere close to that kind of price for something like that, but I also don't like how much they've made them mom-mobiles since the tj generation. Too many doors and power features/electronics, defeats the purpose of what the vehicle is supposed to be for, or used to be at least.

I realize I might sound like a crabby old man in that last sentence, but these are my thoughts at 35. I miss the old wranglers! Long live the last true generation!

I drive a 2019 1500 crew cab big horn 4x4 and still feel the draw toward the wranglers. I like the enormous aftermarket for them. What stops me from trading in my Ram for one is the cost. I sat in one that was priced 20k more than my Ram and the Wrangler felt 20k cheaper. There is no way I can justify the expense.

I just tell myself if I put 20k into my Ram I’d love it more.

Same with me. I'd love to have a gladiator because of the customization and thrill of having the tops and doors off but I can't justify paying that much for them. My wife has a 2019 Wrangler so at least we have that.

Wife has her wrangler. It’s a great off-road vehicle, just not for me for the “general purpose” use I do, because I do a little bit of everything, and I need to be comfortable in most situations.

I treat my truck as a Swiss Army knife. Not great at everything, but can do a lot, and in most situations, it can handle itself.
