BowDown
Spends too much time on here
I dont think its worth it to me, I have a 20 Limited that was involved in an accident in Aug (flashing left turn driver failed to yield and hit me and 2 others), it's still in the shop and now stands at 16K in repairs. I had planned on driving it for 2 more years, the remaining warranty, with no payments but this no driving b%^ch changed those plans. When insurance gave me the scope of work, I started shopping.
I bought a 25 Tungsten in Sept and yes, its superior to my Limited in every way except UC5, hate it. I love the truck but I probably wouldn't have bought one at this time if it wasn't for the accident. Is it a significant upgrade over my 20, yes. Is it enough of a difference/upgrade that I would buy one for no reason other than wanting it over the 20? No.
I have no regrets with the 25 and the HO's power is nice, the Tungsten interior is really really nice and the Klipsch system is without doubt awesome, I love the truck, just not the circumstances. I was happy with my 20 and it got a little better mileage than the 25 but that's to be expected with more power and more gear. My Limited would average about 17.5 in mixed driving (hand calc'd and the computer were nearly the same). The Tungsten averages 16.5-17 (hand calc'd) over the same route but the computer is showing 17.8. I've only filled it up twice so I need a few more times to get a better average and make sure I'm filling the tank.
I had an SO Laramie rental I had for a month, IMO, it drives better than the HO power wise, likely the 3.55 gear vs the Tungstens 3.92. The power of both was superior by far to the HEMI and the SO got better mileage than my Limited by about 1/2 mpg as well as drove better, more power everywhere.
Like I said above, If I didn't have to, there's not enough difference that I would have spent the money simply because it's new; if there were nothing wrong with my truck, I likely wouldn't have done it. If your truck has a serious problem, wear or was in an accident, I wouldn't think twice about making the change. Doing it for only for the new power increase, even with the power of both being greatly superior to the HEMI, no.
Understand though, I'm not a buy a new car person every 3-5 years either so my reasons may be different than others
