I have an interesting one, my dad and I took the rebel to the snow and we were playing around getting sideways and kickin snow, however we figured out that when we put it in 2wd the front still gets power? can someone explain how this could be? No we do not have 4wd auto button, only 4wd high, 4wd low, 2wd high and axel lock, no 4wd auto so this shouldn't be possible right? It almost acts like it is secretly awd, but then why would it have the 4wd buttons if it is? I cant find anyone who also figured this out, I tried posting a video on here but could not so I tried to explain it the best I could. I did post a video of it on my Instagram if you guys want to see if you can figure out why it is doing this, @justliftit02. Any help solving our question would be helpful.

Watched your video. That is very strange. Was the truck in 4wd earlier? Is it possible 4wd didn't disengage? I'll be watching this thread to see what others have to say. Only other thought would be that somehow the traction control system got engaged to correct a slide or potential spin. But the video looks like you are going in a straight line. Did this continue throughout your excursion in the snow?

it was in 4wd and 2wd last time i was in the snow it did it too, we thought it was strange, the truck showed that 4 disengaged but perhaps not. and it did continue but we were crawling around up ice hills so we had it in 4 mostly. could cold play a part? im not sure exactly how these transfer cases work. i know how the jeeps do but not the electronic ones

Can you post the video on you tube?

I would say maybe the system was bound up a little bit and didn’t disengage.

wouldnt the truck show it wasnt disengaged or would the truck not realise it. it did this last time we were in the snow too, so idk if it was a coincidence or if for 2021 they made a hidden awd

The truck would show that 4wd was not engaged by the little light on the selector switch being off. If the light was off and your front axle is still engaged then it was either temporarily bound up or there is something wrong. RAM would not make a hidden anything. Having a truck stuck in 4wd is not a good thing. If it continues then it needs a dealer / warranty trip ASAP. Good luck. Let us know if you find out anything!

Wonder maybe the mixed up the buttons on the your truck because 4 auto is an option for 2021s

i thought that too, but there is no 4 auto button for our truck, mabe a new 2021 option it was preorderd before 2021 was relised so mabe 4auto is built in? im new to ram so idk

Full time AWD is not built in to the trucks. 4wd Auto is something you would have to manually select and turn on if you wanted it on. Like I said, take it in to be looked at because it could be something as simple as the shifting motor not being fully plugged in or something of that nature keeping your front driveshaft from unlocking. Let us know if you resolve this. Good luck!

would it show the transfer case in the build sheet? i cant even find the normal transfer case on my build sheet

Crazy that I came across this thread. I just went out off roading and then when I got to the air up spot on the side of the highway I put it back in 2wd and drove a few feet to air up. I aired up, confirmed on the off road page that it was indeed in 2wd mode and the light on the switch also confirmed. Started driving back home on the highway and I kept asking myself... Is this thing still in 4wd High?? It really sounds like it's in 4wd High!

I got home and got onto my property and have a little area where I can go thru all the modes. I put it in 4wd High and then went forward and back. Then put it neutral and put it in 4wd Low and drove forward and back. Then I put it in 2wd and went forward and back. And then it didn't seem like it was in 4wd anymore.

Crazy... I thought I was going Crazy. Then coming across this thread makes me wonder if it's getting bound up and 4wd is not disengaging even though it shows on the screen and disengaged and in 2wd mode.

My truck did this twice but only under hard power the rest of the time the offroad menu only showed power to the rear, like it was in 4auto, an option we didnt put on this truck, Im going to take it in and see if they can find out why

Yes it is. Your get the 4-Auto option when you add the "electronic shift on-demand transfer case" option
Little late I know, but just came across this. I have the supposed transfer case in my window sticker but not 4-auto in my truck

I’m not seeing it on your window sticker. In order to have 4-auto on a Rebel, you have to get the electronic shift-on-demand feature. All I see here is the eLocker.
