2021 Ram different towing capacity

Can someone explain to me why or what makes the difference

5.7V8 Hemi MDS VVT with an 8 speed auto 8HP75 Transmission quad 6' - 4" 4X2
Tow capacity 8,550
VS

same motor same transmission same bed same everything and this truck tow capacity is 11,650 ????

One of the big differences....if you are comparimg to the bighorn window sticker is it has the 33 gallon tank and you would have the 23 gallon tank and it has side steps bed cover and panoramic sunroof

Because like my Big Horn, we don’t have leather and other factory options that reduce payload. I have the exact same payload.

A Longhorn or Limited have danged near an entire cow of hide in those trucks and that stuff is heavy!

As devildodge said, that’s because you’re missing a lot of optional equipment whose weight reduces payload.

Pano, BUG, 33g tank, tri-fold cover, side steps all add up to ~250 lbs

I do have the BUG, side steps can't weigh that much. I missed the 33g tank and sunroof, apparently I need more coffee.

Your right I missed BUG. The side steps are ~27 lbs each so ~54 lbs combined.
