^^^ I doubt that a shop manager actually knows either. Specs or an officially source would be nice.

I had a hood vent that was lifting at the time of purchase, presumedly due to a broken clip. No problem, bring it back. Brought it back. “Fixed”. Drove it home and discovered that it was worse. Instead of fixing it the proper way, they used 3M tape with an adhesive promoter. Both were clearly visible. Shop manager stated, “Oh, they come that way from the factory now.” Ultimately, a new vent was ordered and it was fixed properly without 3M tape.

Moral of the story... Don’t believe everything stated by a shop manager. I have other examples as well.

2020 June Build date on a custom order Just picked her up yesterday. 2020 Reb ED Crew. No external resi. Apparently these Bilts are a new speed sensitive setup with a larger interior res. Shop manager had the answer. Said these are supposedly an improvement to the remote resi units. I dunno. Sorry for the ****ty pic. I’ve got the wheel liners and couldn’t get the specs off the shock label.

Nice, thank for you getting an answer for us on this thread!!!

Wow, that is interesting. March could be the change out year for those shocks. As long as it's equivalent or improvement, it should be fine. Like I've said many times, the OEM resi shocks don't look like some fancy units you see on high end systems, they honestly looks cheap, I can take them or leave them.

I felt the same. I noticed they weren’t resi when I bought the truck, wasn’t a deal breaker for me. I had full intentions of putting 5100s all the way around regardless

I was hoping they would have a larger internal reservoir but nobody at FCA Canada or my local dealer have any idea what the shock specs are.
Yeah. I have no idea either - just going by what buddy told me at the dealer. But the website clearly indicates “performance tuned shocks”. Whatever that means lol.

Picked up my 20 Rebel at the beginning of the month and it has no external reservoirs. Must be a late June or later build, I guess!

My 2021 Ram Rebel did not have the res either. I thought it will come with it.

I think what happened is that ram used the final few shocks with remote reservoirs on the early 2020’s then switched to non remote reservoir shocks for some reason.

I haven’t had the two side by side yet to compare, but I’ve had no issues with my non remote reservoir shocks yet and it drive ALOT of miles on new and old logging roads at all speeds.

I was upset to find I had a 2021 with non resi shocks. Definitely an early model change. Not too upset since I’ll be putting my kings on this weekend!

Found these information online. Looks like the one without the res. is a newer part number. 68323476AE vs 68323475AD. Frankly speaking, I don't even do offroading. However, the newer part looks like a cheaper alternative to me. $173 vs $202. This definitely upset me a lot.

I looked into this when I first bought my truck and nobody at FCA could tell me why the shocks were changed to a non-reservoir type on the rebel. I tried contacting bilstein, but they wouldn’t give me any details and referred me back to FCA.

Overall I don’t think that it is a big deal, I haven’t noticed any shock fade (which is what the extra oil in the remote reservoir is meant to prevent) on the non reservoir shocks. I have put many miles with and without a load in the back of the truck on logging roads at all speeds without any issues.

The only way to get fca’s attention on these matters is to be a well known YouTuber or get a lawyer involved, dealers aren’t much help either and employees at the Chrysler plant just throw whichever part on that the build sheet calls for. (I have family and friends at the Windsor Chrysler plant)

I am assuming it was $$$ that forced the change as I haven’t seen anyone reporting failures of their reservoir equipped shocks.
