Really Dodge?? I saw these this past weekend forming on the drivers side hood. The weatherstripping on the underside of the hood looks clean but you can feel a little bit of the bubbles there too. Paint is not chipped anywhere and I don't recall driving through any salt water ever....... Frame is clean truck is clean except for this spot. I'm on Long Island and we have only really had one decent snow storm since I got the truck new in 2020 so I would discount out the road salt as well. You would think after the 3rd Gen nightmares folks had that Chrysler/Fiat/Whatever would give a bit more attention to their paint.

Sorry had to vent - @Dodge @RAM #Dodge #RAM this is not cool.

It is not rust but aluminum corrosion, Ford had a big problem with it on thier Mustang's and Expedition's.

Does anyone know if anyones had this corrosion issue on a Ram DT before? Any chance Dodge will make good on it or do I have to go spend a mortgage payment on a new fiberglass hood b/c they didnt paint it properly?

Ram won't do anything on a 2020. If you just bought it, maybe. But no.

Talked to the owner of the body shop I use. After 2 attempts to repair a relative's Mustang hood, the relative opted for an after market hood. Aluminum can also be more difficult to do a Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) I have been told, although I have had a few small dings removed from my hood.

That is a real bummer, can you see if the paint is chipped or cracked? if it is you should seal it with a touch up paint pen, maybe it will stop it from corroding more.
My Rebel is also a 2020 with (99,000km) 60,000 miles, I live in Northern Ontario Canada where sometimes we have snow for up to 6 months per year, the roads are extremely salted, my truck has no rust or corrosion on any body panels, but I had it undercoated and rustproofed at the dealer when new, I also get rustproofing done at Corrosion Free every 18 months, maybe that’s extreme but I plan on keeping my truck for a long time.
My first Ram was a 1996 extended cab, I had to repair some rust through body panels before selling it in 2011, no rustproofing was ever done. My second truck was a 2011 Ram Outdoorsman, it had the electronic rust prevention device installed at the dealer, the bumpers started to rust at 6 years old, bumpers are not covered under the corrosion warranty so I had them colour matched with Linex rubberized coating, a lot of work taking the bumpers off but it looked really good. I also painted all the black parts with POR15 rust paint. There was some corrosion showing under the paint near the tailgate latch so I had the entire truck rustproofed at Corrosion Free dealer and never got worst, I sold it in 2020 when I bough my 2020 Rebel.

Sure it's not panel seam glue overspray?

That would indicate that the oxidization has started inside the hood and is now manifesting itself on the surface.
It that is the case, touch-up paint is not going to fix it.

I just saw the same bubbling on my hood also. No chipping or cracking on mine either. I have 93,000 miles on mine. I didn't know our hoods where aluminum, but that makes sense. That sucks, looks like I'll have to look into getting an aftermarket hood eventually.

Speaking of aftermarket hoods, there was talk a few years back about Mopar potentially offering a shaker hood that could possibly work with their Ram Air Flow....guess it didn't happen??

Nice job on the bumpers it certainly does look like a lot of work. Paint it not chipped or cracked; thought its very small it reminds me of the rear wheel well pre-cancer my '04 had; same type of texture etc.

Yeah real annoying; I keep it as clean as I can but I guess from what I read it has nothing to do with that unfortunately

Dunno about Mopar but here's one I did find that has a built in ram air tunnel, fiberglass & resin blend:

This might work for you, instead of buying a new hood or trying to repair the corrosion, install a bug deflector to hide the corrosion.

That wouldn't help the MOPAR RamAir or Vararam unless you cut the underside of the hood.
