I went to change my oil today and heard lots of water inside of my hood . When I raised it up water would run out where the top and bottom sections had a rolled seam. Did anyone else have this issue and how did you fix it? It may have leaked into the hood around the 2500 labels on each side of the hood..

I‘ve heard that the hood badges will hold water but I haven’t heard about it being enough to run out like you’re describing . I think someone put clear silicone around the hood emblems to keep the water out .

We certainly understand why this would be concerning. Mark,
I took the truck to the dealer and they said all is ok.. the water in the hood will not rust..
He raised the hood and water poured out of the corners of the hood...
I can’t believe I am the only one with this issue.. It appears water is leaking around the 2500 badges on the hood and two days after a rain water is still in the hood and will not drain until you open the hood..

I have the same issue on my 2019 bighorn 2500. Did they give you any reason as to why it wouldn’t rust?

I'm having the same issue. I'm so much worried about rust as I am ice in the winter. It may expand and deform the hood.

You're not the only one with this problem. Mine does it also. How was yours resolved? Thanks!

I have found the solution for this problem. Or at least a clean up. See pictures attached.
Remove the cowl under the hood using plastic snaps and removing wipers.
Left and right there are two large holes. One of mine had metallic rubber over it.
In the very corner of each side is a rubberized flapper valve that was clogged up.
I found it by reaching in the hole to grab/clean the gunk in the corner and my finger pushed the flapper open and water poured out from under the truck.
Hope this helps.
Note the upper rubber on the cowl that seals at the windshield is junk. Dry rotted and cracking.20250412_114306[1].jpg20250412_122016[1].jpg20250412_114213[1].jpg20250412_114029[1].jpg20250412_122007[1].jpg20250412_114426[1].jpg20250412_123031[1].jpg

I would be worried about the rust also , thats how the beds on the 05 to 2010 at least rusted out from trapped water, moisture same with Durangos .
