Hey guys, i have had my 2019 RAM 1500 5.7 lt e torque for a little over a month now and cannot get more than 17mpg on highway. it was supposed to get over 22mpg, but I'm not even close !!! I'm curious as to what you all are getting .... this is about 20% less than advertised.

I have an etorque HEMI as well. But I only drive city. I’m getting 10.7 mpg right now. Don’t feel too bad about your 17mpg. Lol

For the EPA to be accurate for your vehicle, it would have to be the same trim and configuration as the test vehicle. It would also need to be driven in the same manner.

My truck was getting pretty low mileage too in the city driving during the first couple thousand miles. It's improved to about 16-17 in the city now, although not when I use the remote start to cool / warm the truck (obviously). For the highway mileage, I'm not sure I'm getting there either. I saw 20 mpg on a short highway trip finally this past weekend, normally it would have been maybe 18 at the most. I usually try to drive with traffic, so that means 70-75 around here. And our highways are incredibly inefficient, with hills and twists and turns everywhere causing everyone to slow down for no damn reason all the time, killing my hypermiling techniques, lol. I think you might want to wait until you put some more miles on (assuming you have less than 3-4k right now).

I can't believe the disparity in MPG. I've got about 3000 miles on my 5.7 etorque and consistently see 17.5 - 19.5 combined MPG. I live in a rural area so about 65% is highway driving, but a lot of that is at 80+ MPH.

I just got back from a 3500mi round trip, and averaged 15mpg for the whole trip....of course, I ended up driving into the wind both ways, so I'm sure that had something to do with it.

I've only gotten a chance to do one road trip with all highway miles and it was 2 weeks after I got the truck. It got 21 mpg and would probably be better now that I am over 3,000 miles. I do a lot of stop and go back and forth to work and have been averaging 16.4 which is about 3 mpg better then my old 2014 Ram

With cold weather here I wouldn't expect much better than that for now. We average between 15-18 combined, depending on how we run.

My 2019 5.7 E-torque Laramie has been pretty poor since I got it. Have just over 3000 miles on it now but only seeing 14-15mpg combined, 12-13 city and at best see about 18mpg on the highway, far from what they state. I traded in a 2015 6.2L GMC Sierra 1500 that I was able to get 21 on the highway and 15 city all day long (as advertised) so I was hoping I would at least see that with this truck which was dead on what they advertised, pretty bummed...

Hope you guys didn't buy a truck for efficient MPG!

No... and I'm well aware that the EPA MPG is obtained under very specific circumstances, but when my HWY mpg is closer to what they claim CITY mpg should be, that's a bit problematic.

laramie longhorn, sports package 5.7 lire engine w torque - 3.21 gear ratio. i get 12-13 in the city and 17 max on freeways. horrible. i traded in my 2016 ram 1500 diesel where i was getting comfortably 23-25mpg freeway / 20 combined. i thought that the gas engine with etorque was going to give me a 10% better mpg than the reported for the regular engine. nothing ! No. I did not buy the truck for gas mileage, but i hate when manufacturers lie like that. I would be ok if the advertised mpg were 16. i would have bought the truck anyways. i currently has 1500 miles so hoping it improves.

If I drive on highways I can now easily get 20 MPG. The problem is I seldom get to do that, hence my 9-10 MPG city (I have a ridiculously short commute that kills my mileage).
Details in my sig below.

Guys....this is all hard to decipher without knowing what trim level, options, and axle ratio you have. 4x4, Off Road Group, 3.92 axle, and driving style all affect mpg's drastically.

Edit your signatures so we can all see what you're driving!

My Limited is fully loaded and weighs over 6000 lbs. It's a 4x4 with 5.7 eTorque, 3.92 axle, and Off Road Group (1" lift and skid plates). I average 17 mpg with 50/50 city/hwy with light acceleration limiting rpm's to 2300 or less. My truck will only achieve the rated 21 mpg at 50-55 mph on flat ground. The weight, AT 11" wide tires, 4x4, lift, and 3.92 all decrease mpg's. Driving style is a huge factor. That's the reality of owning a truck.

I've posted this before but here,

As for the Driving style it's mixed Freeway and Highway mostly at speeds of 65-80 from Houston to Corpus Christi and Back,

Yes.... yes I did.

My last vehicle was a wrangler, lifted, big tires and a small gas tank. I started to drive hwy a lot and seeing very very low mpg especially in the wind... so into the Ram I went. I’ve been seeing 16-17 in city and have gotten 20 highway with my e tourqe. With all the added room and the gigantic 33 tank. I’ve been tickled pink so to say lol
