Anyone experiencing a squeaking/grinding noise when putting truck in reverse on cold start. I don’t think it’s the brakes because it does it when I have my foot off the brake. On just about every cold start.
Yes I’m hearing the same sound with my Ram. It goes away once I drive so many feet. I don’t like hearing it! Especially when we all pay so much for our Ram trucks.Anyone experiencing a squeaking/grinding noise when putting truck in reverse on cold start. Any improvement with noise? The dealership doesn’t have any answers and they are sick of seeing me.Mine is making a groaning sound when I brake in reverse backing down my 500 ft driveway. After I get on the road and use the brakes going forward, it's gone until the next morning. I have also had high squeels in reverse but that goes away after the first 100 ft. My truck when cold idles higher and reverse speed without braking is too fast for wet gravel. I try not to splash through standing water to prevent potholes and a dirty truck.
The groaning is loud and is definitely the front brakes. It is low enough in frequency that it can be felt. Probably around 180hz if that makes sense. I can also hear it faintly when not braking in reverse. It's totally silent going forward. I wonder if my brakes are dragging some. I'll be seeing the dealer.
Yes!! I have taken it back to the dealership 4 times. I was told, ‘Brakes make noise’. After insisting that this is not a normal noise the dealership agreed to replace the back brakes. They replaced the brakes at the last visit, hoping the noise would stop. It didn’t. New brakes were done 4 days ago. This morning put truck in reverse in my driveway and the same loud, howling sound came from the back of the truck. I called the dealership, they don’t know what to do. I called Ram customer service and received a call back. The rep said another notice would be released next month and to wait for that. I’m beyond frustrated. As expensive as this truck was, I don’t think there should be any loud howling, squealing noise coming from the truck. I’m regretting this purchase more and more. It doesn’t seem that Ram has a solution.
I just purchased my 2019 Ram truck a few months ago. I also makes a moaning sound when I put it into reverse on cold days. I am not touching the brakes, either. Did Ram come out with any information on this or the issue?
What ended up being the culprit? I also have this noise in reverse on cold starts, not brakes as they have been replaced, almost sounds like front axle - it is 4X4
I have an appt on Saturday, made sure to take video that captures the sound as well. It might be a brake/caliper not releasing.Sorry to hear that you are experiencing this, Dustin! If you decide to address this with your dealer, please know that we are just a private message away and we are more than happy to provide you with extra support for that process.

They have parts on back order for the rear brakes; but I’m pretty sure the noise I’m hearing is from the front end and not the rear brakes - doesn’t even sound like a brake issue, more like front axle. Please be sure to keep us updated on your dealer's findings, Dustin. We are more than happy to escalate a case on your behalf if needed.

I had my truck making a squeaking noise whenever I shifted from reverse to drive or park to reverse and even when going over a bumpy road under construction. Took it to the dealer and they said the brakes weren't sitting right so that had to turn the discs and installed new brake pads. 5 months later, about a week ago the squeaking came back!!!!! WTF?!?? So, will the dealer install these ceramic brake pads at their expense?????YES! It's because of the break pads they use. They have metal flake in them that "flash rusts" after damp and it sits. Answer: take and get ceramic pads installed.
