18" Rim and Offset Suggestions/Advice

I'm looking to replace my factory 22" rims with an 18" rim. The wheel I really want is the Black Rhino Chamber. The offset options are +12mm or -18mm. I want the wheel to be flush with the fender, an ever so slight aggressive stance. A tiny bit of poke would be ok, but not a lot.

I'm concerned -18mm will pop out too much and I'm having a hard time finding examples of an 18 x 9.5 -18mm wheel. Does anybody here run a similar setup and have and example I could see? (I've already spent hours on Customwheeloffset)

Also, a 9.5" -18mm wheel has 4.5" of backspacing. A 9" -12mm wheel has 4.5" of backspacing. Does that mean these two setups will look nearly identical in terms of how it sits with the fender?
Black Rhino 18" rims tend to come in a width of 9.5" with a -18mm offset, while Fuel 18" rims tend to come in a width of 9" with a -12mm offset. I'm curious if these setups look the same.

Stock is 18x8 with +19 (0.75") offset. So, 4.5" centerline, plus 0.75" positive offset, means you've got 5.25" backspace.

A 18x9 wheel has a 5.0" centerline. So +12 (0.5") is going to give it 5.5" backspace. -18 (-0.75") is going to give it 4.25" backspace.

Effectively, the +12 will have the outer face of the wheel 0.75" farther out than stock, while the -18 will stick out 2.00" farther than stock.

I prefer 0 offset, but I understand your dilemma...

From what I've researched you need -12mm offset or less for the 18" wheels to fit in most brand of wheel.

I have a set of BR Rokus so I can give you an exact answer. The +12 are exactly flush. I have a 20x9.5 and run 295/60r20. What will actually help you manage the flush-ness of the profile is the sidewall of the tire you're going to get. I have the Recon Grapplers and they have a pretty aggressive sidewall, which helps make up for any offset (see pics).

The -18 will definitely give you some poke and while it looks super nice, I can see it being a nightmare on your truck if you offroad at all. As proof, I just went this weekend and w/ the tires being flush, everything stayed within the realm of "normal" even though I was on a rutted/wet/muddy/dusty trail (see pic).

The Fuels with a -12 will have a more flush profile than the BRs but they will still definitely have some poke. I'm not sure if my pictures show it, but I'm not sure you can get more flush than that.

I have King 2.5s (leveling kit) up front and I think the biggest tire you can fit w/ the 20x9.5 (+18 offset) is the 295/60r20 (without trimming, although I did zip tie the driver's side wheel well, which was no big deal).

The 18" wheels will fit the brake calipers, but if your guy doesn't know how to balance the wheel right, it'll knock the weights right off the wheel, so I'd be mindful of that. Also, in the event you want to go for bigger brakes, you're basically SOL.

I hope this helps you and future buyers I struggled with this decision for months before I pulled the trigger. I'll be honest, I initially regretted not getting the -18 because of the novelty of the stance and the "cool" factor, but once I started hitting the trails a lot, I wouldn't get -18 even if I had a chance.

did you end up getting the chambers? I am looking into them also. I might get the BR Stadium if I can't find an answer, I seen the stadiums on a Rebel so they fit there, just not sure about the Chambers.

Wheelhaven site says fitment guaranteed, but still charge a restocking fee! so I can't order with them even if I wanted to.

These are 35X12.5 on 18X9 with -12 offset. They barely stick out. Stock Rebel wheels are 18" so they clear the brakes just fine.

I have a similar setup to this. They poke out just a tiny bit. Gives it a good stance.

I went with 18x9 -12 with 37x13.50s (actually measure 14 wide) and here’s the poke. I personally want to add 3/4” spacers since my trucks pretty tall. I also don’t have the factory flares which are about an inch though

I ended up getting 20" Fuel Coverts, which I really like.

I just ordered the BR Chambers from wheelhaven with a +12 offset. I will update once try an mount and see if it fits. I spoke with them again and the person said if it doesn't fit then there is no restocking fee, so safe to say I will try them.

Yes but that's an inch on both sides and my fat *** is wide enough without adding more. So -12 on 35X12.5 is max I want to go. Otherwise it's time for a narrower vehicle.

So I have 18x9 -12mm offset Rock Trix with a 275/70 tire. I’m experiencing slight rubbing on the inner fender weld depending on the angle I’m at. I was wanting to change to a 35x12.5 tire but seems like I’ll have to do a lift on the front air suspension

Would you mind posting a couple of pictures of your truck? I have a crew cab 6.5’ bed 2wd that I put a 2” (top spacer) level kit with UCA’s on and I want 35” tires and 18” wheels but not exactly sure what offset I want. Do yours rub at all with the 2” level on the front?

They definitely rubbed. I had to zip tie the inner fender back and trim a piece off. It's minimal, but definitely necessary.
