The blackstone ones are free. You just request them on the website. You just pay when you are ready to ship it in. Just be aware they take like 4-5 weeks for results
Just another data point. I wasn’t able to find PUP, so I’m running PP 0w20 this time. I asked about how they think they compare, and they said it should work fine. Just FYI, the oil life meter said I needed to change at almost exactly 10k, and I ran 1,300 past that for science because they...
Spraying WD40 onto the end of your pads seems….. suboptimal…? And pads probably get way too hot for WD40 to last. Maybe putting a really high temp anti-seize paste on the back of the pads and on the tabs like a copper/moly/nickel compound would help? I’m a big fan of Nickel-Graf and use it...
I saw the uneven pad wear. Mighta just needed caliper slide bolts, but they had my truck for 9 days and I just got to the point of “whatever. Just fix it and give me my damn truck back”
They also agreed to knock my rental from $360 to $120 since I had to buy a battery.
I will say that before...
Started feeling a shimmy in the front end, and a humming/whine sound. Took it into the dealership and a hub and brake caliber were bad. Went ahead and replaced both hubs because if one’s going out, the other probably isn’t far behind. Truck’s at 58k miles, 99% of the driving is cruise control on...
I remember my dad telling me basically that oil is oil, just make sure it has the API star logo on it. I became cognizant of it and would always look for it. The only place I have ever found a motor oil that didn’t have it was at a dollar store lol.
I sent a sample in at my last oil change and just got this back from Blackstone. I thought I would share.

Thanks for the responses. I will say that I took it to a very reputable and highly recommended local shop that has been here for decades. They aren’t just a body shop, they also are an ASE certified mechanic shop and frame repair is one of thier specialties. They pulled the bumper off and put it...
So I got rear ended. Their insurance (GIECO) assumed full liability and my truck is at the shop. It’s a ‘21 1500 Big Horn 3.6L Etorque 4x4 that just hit 55k miles.
I’ve been driving for over 20 years and this is my first accident. I’m dealing with the insurance company and it’s uncharted...
Yep! If a vehicle has traction control, it basically piggybacks on that system and adds a lot of safety to towing. This video has a good basic explanation during the first 3 minutes of how our Ram’s trailer sway control works.
This is correct. The first ticket has the trailer completely disconnected with it’s jackstand completely on the trailer scale, and the truck’s curb weight is shown by combining the steering and drive axle weights. The second ticket is with the trailer connected and the distribution hitch fully...
Hey! Sorry for the late response. The auto sway control will use several motion sensors on the truck to detect trailer sway and will lightly and immediately apply braking to either the right or left side to cancel out the sway before it can propagate into anything severe. Really cool stuff!
Towed this setup about 200 miles. Left it in “tow” mode and set cruise control to where it comfortably held about 2200 rpms and didn’t need to search for gears going over every little hump, which was about 65mph. The auto sway control is super cool. There was a very stiff crosswind for some of...
Bought my truck in January, and it just hit 7k miles (all freeway, zero feet driven off pavement). There is a CONSTANT buzzing rattle in the dashboard at highway speed in the vicinity of the headlight controller that it driving me crazy. The pillar trim cover next to my head also does it, but at...
