You have to remove burrs that were cause by galling due to the lack of grease from the factory. After you make the repair and apply appropriate lubrication, I would recommend that the drive shaft is at some point inspected and that more grease is applied depending on your situation/use. Hence...

I used the ford teflon grease for driveshafts. Works well. I used hose clamps to reattach the boot. Offset the binders/screws 180degrees to avoid any balancing issues.

It’s a shame that AFE can’t get these right, but I feel vindicated knowing that I am not the only one that struggled with their subpar product. Hopefully those long tubes work out better.
