Not even close to the same comparison. Wpoing up paint off your floor is not even close to expecting a shop to replace an expensive module that has to be reprogrammed by the dealer. and based on his post, he knew the risk.
Pretty sure the front is just snapped in "caps". You could also install utility tie down rails on the inside of the bed for tie down points. Unless there is a reason you need them to be on the bed rails.
The shop does not have to buy him anything. He understood the risk involved with getting windshield tinted. It's his responsibility to replace if it is bad.

Modern M series with the X-drive are some badass cars as well. Local friend has a M3 comp, stock block he was pushing 1000 whp with just upgraded turbos, downpipe and tune. He's since built it a little stronger, makes ~1500 whp runs 5's in the 1/8 mile, and its his daily driver.
