2019 tam 1500 5.7 hemi bighorn. I had a check engine light come on for misfires. Changed all spark plugs and went ahead and changed out the bad coils with new ones. Still got codes. Took it to my mechanic he did a fuel injection service and started troubleshooting. I still have several intermittent misfires. He checked all injectors and finally came to the conclusion that my pcm is not working properly. Ram has back ordered all new pcm’s with no clue on when they will get new ones in. I saw one of you great minds on here mention getting a Moe’s performance tuner kit that comes with a new PCM and tuner. Would that fix my problem!?

If your mechanic says the PCM is bad and you get a new PCM from Moe's, why wouldn't it fix the problem? The only way it wouldn't, is if the PCM wasn't the issue

My exam is not sending the right signals causing random misfires. Getting one from ram is about impossible. I went on moe’s performance and you can get an i3 tuner and new pcm for 800-1000. But I know nothing about this stuff. They say you have to send in your stock pcm as well. Am I reading that correct? It’s a new pcm and tuner?

Yes, they will send you the hand held, you have to connect to the truck to get your stock PCM info, then send that file to Edge, and they will send you a new unlocked PCM. This allows you to load different tubes into the PCM. Its very possible RAM could void your warranty by having an unlocked PCM.

it's a 2019....i doubt he has a warrantee.

Jatindall82, did he do a compression check? leak down test? i don't know how good a mechanic your guy is but i doubt it's a bad ecm but hay i could be wrong. there are quite a few things that can give miss fire codes.......... worst case is the lifters eating up the cam. just because it's not ticking don't mean that's not happening.

i would make SURE i exhausted every possible cause before i replaced the pcm or dug into the motor. i guess it possible your guy did everything.
i have seen many lazy tech's throw pcm's in only to find it was not the issue.

I appreciate the suggestions but he’s a guy I really trust. 40 year mechanic. He did compression, checked every injector, leak down etc. Even upgraded some his test equipment to test it. Said he’d been needing to anyway so my truck was the reason he got new toys lol.
