its very common for tuners to turn of MDS on gm engines, and it turns it off properly for good. Real custom tunes are amazing, the factory tends to be very conservative for bad owners that use cheap fuel etc. Lots of room for performance if you use good gas and take care of the vehicle.
even without other mods a proper tune is much better than the pulsar. A real tune can adjust air fuel ratio, timing, etc for high octane fuel , actually turn off the MDS, tune out torque management and tune the transmission. The pulsar basically adjusts throttle response and tricks the truck...
does the pulsar change the full throttle shifts? I like the smooth shifts at part throttle but this zf trans can snap off upshifts much faster than the factory tune does.
Its a real disappointment that no one seems to sell reg cab short box trucks anymore. They are a blast to drive, look great and are fast due to the reduced weight. I noticed that Chevy is making regular cab trailboss trucks for the middle east, but not north america. This seems like a missed...
I love mine and dislike driving at night in my other vehicles that don't have them. I live down a country road, and being as it is dark for most of the day during the winter they are a great feature to have. When i drive other vehicles, including a cadillac CT6 with excellent LED lights i find...
Good to see more info trickling in on the TRX! That is a very wide axle, so it should have a killer stance with wide flared arches similar to the Ramrunner or the 4th gen TRX concept.
Compared to my 17 sport it is a touch quicker and a little smoother. I understand it is also more efficient also and the ratios are a little different.
As far as i know, Fiat Chrysler manufactures the ZF design in house in the USA. Some other manufactures purchase them pre-built from ZF.
I have the upmost confidence in this transmission, the previous gen was excellent and the new one is rated for more torque and is just as smooth. It is also...
All emissions stuff is bad and should be removed post haste! lol.
Every single aftermarket intake system will not retain the carbon filter, it wont hurt anything to take it out.
If you are in there to replace the stock filter with a drop in aftermarket, you may as well remove the carbon filter. Just the carbon on its own was not noticeable in my opinion, but with both the K and N and the filter delete it was just enough to get a touch more noise. Maybe a couple HP but...
Glad your truck is also problem free! I certainly love mine and agree that bad news often drowns out all of the happy owners out there.
What specific drive-ability improvements did you get with the pulsar?
I pulled it, no noticeable gain in sound or power. If you are installing an aftermarket filter my opinion is that you might as well pull it... if you gain a few hp from deleting it and a few more from the new filter it might be worth it, and who doesn't like free mods?
I would think it would be similar to the laramie tested by car and driver, 22" wheels probably slow it down by a tenth but 3:92 gears should get that back. 5.9 -6.2 seconds should be close.
