    SWITCHING OCTANE

I doubt that one notch on the octane scale will be noticable. It's just less likely to ping.

Aftermarket air filter? What's in the box?

I just took a peek in the air filter box for S&Gs. Has anyone seen an improvement in performance or fuel mileage by installing a synthetic media filter? I've used several Airaid filters over the years on my fleet. Also, what is the element permanently installed in the upper half of the air...

    AC evaporator drain

I recall running across - in one the many threads here - a discussion of the AC condensate getting behind the insulation blanket and running down the firewall. I just fixed mine. There was a similar discussion years ago over on turbodieselregister related to my 2004. The fix is to find a...

    Engine Oil Filters

Nothing but Amsoil. I put a combined 530,000 miles on two Cummins engines, and oil analysis was always clean as a whistle, even after a year / 20,000 miles.

    Aftermarket Transmission Pan for 8HP75?

I would sign up for that if you track one down. I'm going to be swapping over to Amsoil early in the game. On a related note, is there a pre-fab heat shield for that exhaust pipe? It sure seems such a rig would cut way down on the heat input to the fluid. I'm considering header wrap.

    headlight lens polish?

With a little more digging, I found that Rain-X themselves make a product specifically for clear plastic. I ordered a bottle yesterday.

    headlight lens polish?

What seems to be the best protectant for headlight lenses? I'm just looking for something to make the bugs easier to remove. I checked the label on the spray version of Rain-X , but it's sort of ambiguous as to its safety for polycarbonates. Works like a champ on glass, but does it do the...

An Engineer's Ultimate Guide To 3.21 VS 3.92 Axle Ratio

I traded a few notes with the folks over at PML (aluminum diff covers). I shot them a picture of mine, and they think my axle was made by Dodge.

An Engineer's Ultimate Guide To 3.21 VS 3.92 Axle Ratio

Who builds these axles? Does the 3.21 have a proven track record?

    Drive Line Fluid Changes

OK, thanks. So those are the same axles.....'19 vs '20? Who builds those axles?

    Drive Line Fluid Changes

I just checked again. Neither engine code shows any rear axle lube recommendation. And oddly enough, the owner's manual does not list the fluid capacity of the rear axle. Just be sure to use that "Mopar lubricant". Oooooo-kaaaay.

    New guy in town

I've been over on TurboDieselRegister since 1994. After putting a combined 530,000 miles on a '94 and an '04 Cummins-powered Dodges, my creaking old foot will not do that clutch thing any more. And I don't need a mighty 1000 ft-lbs of torque either, so I've downgraded just a hair. I just...

Experiences with oil changes so far?

Why, oh, why does the flippin' engine assembly line not follow the instructions right there on the filter??? No....they put on with no oil on the gasket and torque it to 65 ft-lbs! I destroyed my first one on a new 5.7 Hemi getting it off. They all do it......Cummins is the same way. The...

    Drive Line Fluid Changes

How do I tell which engine I have? Those codes mean nothing to me.

    Drive Line Fluid Changes

Amsoil specifically recommends the Mopar additive? I mean, they sell their own additive.

    Drive Line Fluid Changes

The Amsoil site has no recommendation for a differential lube in the 2020 1500 Big Horn 5.7 (2WD) with the limited slip rear end. Can anyone enlighten me? Also, is there an aftermarket cover for that diff?

    2020 Big Horn rear axle

Hello all....new member here. I've been over on TurboDieselRegister since I got my first Cummins in '94. I"m in the process of selling my '04 because my creaking old foot will not work that clutch any more. So last week, I brought home a 2020 1500 Big Horn with the 5.7 Hemi, 8-speed, and...
