I agree on the sidewall. For a while I went with 22" Michelins with a taller sidewall, but eventually switched to 18" rims with beefier tires and am much happier with those. 22" rims are just not practical on trucks. This thread may be of help
The rest of what you posted is default behavior...
My wife drives our 2014, while I have a 2020. Both Hemi, 8-speed, 3.92. Stock wheels are 20" on the 2014, and 22" on the 2020, but I currently have 18" rims on the 2020. 2020 has E-torque, while the 2014 obviously doesn't. 2014 is a few hundred pounds lighter. 235,000 miles on the 2014...
BTW, fun fact: when my battery died I managed to limp it into an OReilly's parking lot. They checked the battery for me (it was bad), but were not allowed to replace it because of the whole 'it will take a few hours to completely reset systems after installing new battery'. I guess some...
2020 5.7, 154K miles
I realized a while ago that I had not seen the 'eco' light come on anymore. Over the last month, I have kept an eye on it, and have not seen it come on once, not even on roads where it previously would.
I checked for OBDII fault codes, and there are none. No lights on...
wow, the comments on my plan to use Lightning as backup are truly retarded. I literally said we'd also use the truck for shorter trips, but whatever :p Some threads here are as bad as Youtube comments
I have been seriously considering the Lightning with Pro Power. The Pro models are around $52K here. The cool part is that the truck can act as a backup power source for your house in case of blackout. We'd still have an ICE truck for road trips etc. and use the Lightning for shorter trips.
I agree, and this is the reason I got an extended warranty for the trucks I bought from them. This effectively forces them to stand behind their product. Our 2014 needed new cams; I was told it would have been a $5000 repair if I hadn't had the extended warranty. That paid for the extended...
'prices are obscene' is right: a Big Horn for 62K , that's what my Limited cost in 2019. Other than that, sounds like a good truck, but parts situation is not ideal. I'll stick with my 2020 for now. Thanks for the info.
Well, it's all been said before, but for me, I'm not buying another Ram (after owning 4 Hemis).
Reasons:
1. The insane price increases at Ram in the last 4 years. My 2020 Limited would cost me up to $15K more now, even after the $10k-$15K discounts going on right now
2. Other manufacturers...
That truck looks totaled.
However, if you want to help the decision by the insurer: if you don't have a rental car already, get one trough the insurance. The cost of the rental while they repair the truck figures in their decision to total or not.
Hurricane or Hemi, truck prices are now at a level where I have a hard time justifying getting any new truck. Mine's only 4 years old, but would cost me at least $15,000 more to buy today than in 2019. Also, buying a whole new engine design in it's first few years is not for me.
It was 28F on during my commute this morning. For a while, I saw this truck a few cars ahead of me with a dog in the bed. Speeds up to 60mph with the dog's coat and ears flapping in the wind.
Am I overreacting when I consider this animal cruelty? Windchill, even if you take into account some...
I love the air ride on my Limited, and the ability to raise the truck when on unpaved roads or off-road. Having said that, the Limiteds are so expensive now that I would not buy one again. I did drive a non-air Big Horn as a loaner vehicle for a few days and it was fine as well. IMO, only...
Just of the top of my head (we have a 2014 with abt. 235,000 miles and a 2020 with 130,000):
- Carfax to spot accidents etc.
- Make sure previous owner did required maintenance (dealer records?)
- listen for excessive ticking of engine (possible lifter issue or possibly exhaust header cracks)
-...
