Ironically, this was the first thing I changed on my truck. I absolutely couldn't stand the magnified towing mirror on the passenger side. Drove me crazy every time I tried to change lanes for the first 2 weeks. I dumped them for the regular power mirrors, and those are more than enough width...
I tow a 7200 lb 24' boat around with my 1500, and it does quite well. However, my tongue weight is very low compared to a travel trailer (only around 6-7%) so I can still deal with the minimal payload that the 1500 offers.
Even so, I would ditch the panoramic roof in a heartbeat for the extra...
I'm down 2 MPG since the temps dropped out. Engine management will contribute to part of that working to keep the engine at temp. Warming up the truck even for 5 minutes will take 0.5 - 1 MPG off for me. Denser air, lower air pressure in the tires, etc doesn't help.
Happens every year, but I...
Congrats on the new rig.
I personally notice zero difference in mileage between 87 and 89. That is with both daily driving and towing my 7500 lb boat around. In my wife's '18 Expedition there is a noticeable gain from 87-91 octane, so if you came out of a 3.5 EB you might be tempted, but...
Likely the battery. Had a very similar experience with my previous Yukon XL. Don't sweat the dragging of the tires. These are full-sized trucks. The tires will break traction before any drive line components get damaged. Not nearly as much load as hammering it from a standstill.
I had a '99 GTP...dropped the pulley diameter, added the intake spacer, CAI, roll bars, STBs. Used to drag race it on Wednesday nights during TNT. Had it down in the high 12s. Blew the engine at 103K miles. Man I loved that car.
Anyway, I traded my '16 GMC Canyon AT on my Ram. I actually...
I have sumos on my Expedition, which work pretty well for towing and don't affect the unloaded ride at all.
That said, I added airbags to my previous Canyon and they were much better for flexibility and load characteristics. Given the option, I'd do airbags first but they don't make them for...
2018 3.5 Ecoboost on my wife's truck has the cam phaser rattle at 16,000 miles. Other than that I love the truck. 2015 GMC Yukon XL was bought back By GM and swapped for a new 2016 model, and the second one was fantastic. My 2015 Cherokee Trailhawk sat in the service department for 6 days to...
My Limited had been on the lot for 4 months, so they were willing to work on the price. My '18 Expedition was on the lot a full 2 months after the '19s had come out, so that dealer was very eager to unload it.
As noted above, all about timing.
I put the Tyger tri-fold hard cover on mine and it's been good so far. Had a soft cover on my last one, but wanted a little more protection. Price was decent at around $500, and the fit is very good.
I had the Duelers on my old Tahoe and found them to be average at best. In the snow, they were ok, but nothing to write home about. Around here (mid-Atlantic) we only get about 10 real snow "events" per year so it doesn't make much difference for snowfall, but I wouldn't put them back on any...
I wasn't very impressed with mine until I started changing my driving habits lately...and it has paid off. On the highway I get 17-18 MPG generally, which is not great in my book. Around town I was getting 17-17.5.
One of the posts on this site mentioned accelerating a little harder off the...
The butyl tape will work well, but you need to re-tighten the lens after a couple of days to get it to fully seat. I use butyl tape to seal all of my above-water-line components on my boat and it works like a charm.
I came out of a GMC to the Ram, and also own a Ford Expedition so I looked hard at the F150 as well. Like you mentioned, after you sit in the Ram the other ones just don't put up much of a fight, and the ride wasn't even close either.
I personally was looking for an uplevel Laramie, but...
Affiliate would definitely be the first stop. I have tried both USAA (now gone) and Costco several times in the past, and in every case I was able to beat the prices pretty significantly by negotiating with a dealer directly.
Thanks for the replies. It is indeed the 12" screen, which so far has been very stable (knocking on wood). I'll try dumping the bluetooth on my phone next time to see if that gives a true severed connection. If that works, it's good enough for me.
I do have to take it to the dealer sooner or...
Got a slight problem that I'm hoping the community can help with. When I'm on a call through the U-Connect in my truck and I want to park and continue the call on my phone outside of the vehicle I can't the system to completely "release" my phone. I can transfer the call to the phone from the...
I ran a random orbit buffer off of mine when the electricity at the marina conked out halfway through waxing my boat. It was a lifesaver...or a least a shoulder and arm saver.
Luxury truck or not, 2" of mud and wet grass didn't slow down my AWD CTS wagon with a half decent set of tires when I had it on jobsites. Further, if Ram had no intention of these being use on anything but street duty, why put the high settings on the air suspension and equip with low range and...
That may be the case, but pickup trucks are advertised as work vehicles, and when I drive mine into a construction site and get stuck because of the crap factory tires on it then they are not meeting the promised capability. There are dozens of Highway All Season tires that give at least a...
