For what it's worth, I've towed ~8.5k pounds on a trailer and gotten 14mpg in my Rebel. Didn't go above 55, and it was a low profile trailer and two pallets of retaining wall blocks. Ran it about 50 miles for that average. Speed and wind resistance are the biggest factors.
But yeah, you're not...
The windscreen on that UTV acts as a big sail. There's like a 4mpg difference when I have the expanded metal ramp up on the back of my trailer instead of laying down on it, especially at speeds above 50. That's when the trailer is empty. Depending on which direction you're driving (into the wind...
Just jumping in on the off-topic discussion as another "non-licensed" engineer. Two Biomedical Engineering degrees from an accredited university, decade+ experience being an engineer, never needed a license. Even with that Texas statute if you're working for a private employer and not providing...
Depending on where you place your wireless charger the port in the center console isn't a bad idea. I know several people just run the cable through the little slot that's there for charging cables and then put the wireless charger where the coin tray is. I know it defeats the purpose of the...
They can be used for charging, but it's documented that the USB-A ports are 5V @ 2.5A so less than the 15W required by your wireless charger. The USB-C ports are 5V @ 3A.
You're connected over BT for 6.5 hours. Less than 4% of battery lost per hour is actually pretty good. Just having my phone sitting unlocked the background processes will drain it more than that.
If that trailer weight is the loaded weight it looks ok. I've seen people estimate 10-15% of trailer weight for tongue weight. Don't forget 100 pounds or so for the weight distribution hitch in your payload numbers plus anything else you have in the truck. I know you said 300 pounds of gear, but...
Yep, it's like wiring up an amp. It's got a power cable connected straight to the battery with an ACC/IGN trigger wire that actually turns the unit on and then peripherals are attached to the amp.
I have this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08J6MJD4N/?th=1.
My fault, by power box I meant switch panel and by switch panel I meant the actual button device. This picture is pretty self explanatory. As far as wiring the lights/accessories the power (+) goes to the switch panel and the...
Depending on the switch bank you'll have options, but they're mostly the same. Mine was battery + to the power box with - to either battery or ground, a turn on wire with a fuse tap for ACC/IGN on, then the wiring from the power box to the switch panel. When wiring lights/accessories you wire +...
Agreed, but at the end of the day I can buy 6 of the Auxbeam I bought for the price of the Switch Pro. I've used Auxbeam before with good results, and if it lasts 5+ years it's worth the replacement at the price point. Hardest part of the install for this one was deciding where I wanted to put...
I'm assuming it means all the wires just go in one side. Honestly didn't even look at it since I knew I only wanted 6 switches. Since I installed it I pushed the wires a little farther back in that crack, and it's barely visible now.
This is exactly what I did, except with 6 switches (didn't need 8). Exact same spot, and I just ran the wire through the firewall. Any new installs will take longer to bolt them on the truck than to wire them up.
**Went with a much lower price item than the switch pro. Auxbeam 6 gang switch...
Yes if they jacked up the rear end to replace a bunch of stuff it'll take a bit of driving to settle the suspension back down. Although I'm pretty sure we don't have shackles on our trucks since we have coils?
Yeah it's not a huge deal except for the fact that the BT is strong enough around my house. If I go into a store/the office I'm far enough away. I'll just be sitting on the couch, and it'll ping every 5 seconds trying to connect even after the hour time limit of shutting the USB ports off.
I have an AAWireless, and it works great except it stays on 24/7. Pings my phone in the house constantly. I end up unplugging it when I'm home, so other than not needing a plug in the truck I'm basically doing the same thing. If the Motorola turns off after the hour USB ports are supposed to...
