One thing I’ve noticed is that at least to my eye, color has a lot to do with the perception of the bed length. Lighter colors make the bed look longer and darker colors make it look shorter. What color do you have?

How many miles do you have on the new rubber? Our new Wrangler handled very sloppy until it had about 800 miles on it. Smoothed right out after that. It has the all terrains on it so they might just need a bit of break in to smooth out.
