I'm sure Toadsch appreciates your defending him from my post. :ROFLMAO:
The Hurricane engines are both forced induction gasoline direct injection and either engine will benefit from a catch can regardless of the tune or how it's driven.
There are lots of cheaper catch cans out there if you want to figure out the connections and mount provisions yourself. I agree that $500 is a lot to pay, but you just bought a $70k truck and you're balking at $500 for something that's gonna help keep your engine running well for many years to...
I'm not sure anyone has done the research on exactly what needs to be done. Or if they have I haven't seen anything posted on it. If anyone can answer this I'd think it'd be @Jimmy07.
16 miles per day is a lot of gravel driving. I’d try to fabricate some kind of shield if I was having the issues you’re having. How’s your paint holding up? Specifically where the sheet metal flares out just in front of the rear tires.
Open your hood and take a look at all the plastic components that used to be metal in previous generations of vehicles. Intake manifolds, radiators, transmission pans just to name three. Basically, if you see a plastic part and are concerned about it, look to see if there are any aftermarket...
I've been running Red Line 5w-30 for two years and have never seen any codes for incorrect viscosity. I ran the same oil in the 2017 Rebel I used to own with no issues. That doesn't happen on 4th and 5th gens.
Check to see what the warranty will be before making your decision. They are usually much shorter than the factory warranty, often as little as one year.
No stock truck has a sealed tailgate. Not that it's relevant to this thread, but the Rambox is not an option on your Tungsten. It's a standard feature.
Since the OP's question was answered within the first few posts there's not much more to say about that subject. So like many other threads, it has moved on to other subjects. The thread should probably just be closed at this point unless the OP would like to keep it open for whatever reason.
If flaps help I'd hate to see what mine would look like if I didn't have flaps lol. I agree with Phippy about the running boards. Power steps do nothing to protect that area.
It's not just Limited and Tungsten models. It happens with any model 5th gen with painted factory fender flares. And the factory ppf is a joke. That spot is very vulnerable to rock chips. You should see what our 2020 Limited looks like. I used to worry about it when the truck was new lol.
That’s the problem, lots of theories but no real data on what’s causing the cam/lifter failures. It’s not just MDS lifters that are failing, and even engines without MDS have the same types of failures. I’m not convinced that MDS has anything to do with it. I’m more of the theory of soft cams...
Sounds like you might want to hold off buying a truck right now. If I were in your shoes I'd probably fix your 2019 and drive that until you have picked out a travel trailer. Then make your truck buying decision based on your towing needs. By that time you may have a better idea of the...
Just to clarify here, the "eTorque V6" is the same thing as the 3.6 L Pentastar. You can't get a Pentastar on a 5th gen Ram 1500 without etorque.
Your shop is mistaken. The Pentastar has proven itself to be a very reliable engine. The Hurricane is too new to know about the reliability of it...
