I purchased the strip of rubber that fits between the bed and the "cab". I cut two sections from it and trimmed them to fit between the box and the tailgate and held them in place with "plastic rivets" (had to drill two holes). It did not seal it completely, but it did seal it about 99%. I can't take photos right now but if you need a photo I can send one tomorrow.

Or you can just buy tailgate seal and make your own

I must say, that's pretty nice. I couldn't find anything like that when I designed mine. It's basically the same design I did but it's much sturdier. Gee...I might order those. (y)

Tried the whole tailgate seal before and didn’t last to long before it became undone and lost somewhere.

This was a way better solution.. looks well made haven’t gotten a chance to install them yet since I might swap covers soon but I’m willingly to bet it’ll work fine.

Okay...I just ordered them! (y) (y)

I am astounded that Ram has not addressed this problem. It seems that people who ordered this tailgate originally in 2019 had the same
problem as I am having today in 2025 RAM TUNGSTEN 1500! Imagine spending over $100,000 on a brand new pickup to find out that the OPTIONAL RAMBOX and OPTIONAL MULTI FUNCTION TAILGATE DON'T SEAL!!!! WELL DONE

It’s a truck… you want a complete seal get a suv, or topper or one piece fiberglass tonneau cover but you’re out of luck w/ the rambox feature. No truck bed seals completely.

With a factory tri-fold soft tonneau, you are never going to keep water or dust out. This will keep you dry if you have a hard cover tonneau:

I have a 23 limited with ram boxes and MFT.
I used the ESI kit. Casual rain… it’ll stay mostly dry. Power wash… torrential downpour, still gonna get wet back there.
The ESI kit instructions aren’t the best..it gets to a point where you pretty much say.. ok, tape here, cut to length, done.
I’ve had mine on for a little over a year…no issues with it coming off or apart. I do HIGHLY recommend alcohol or some kind of solvent to get a clean base to apply the seals to…

I use a combination of the ESI kit w/ some 3d printed seal basically its like the Ram Seal listed above but 3d printed with rubber this is with the Retrax I still get slight intrusion in the rear but its nothing to worry about. I just keep it mind that it’s a truck bed and not 100% waterproof or expected to be so anything in the bed that Im worried about getting wet will go inside a bag or tote .

No stock truck has a sealed tailgate. Not that it's relevant to this thread, but the Rambox is not an option on your Tungsten. It's a standard feature.

Interesting that I found this thread because I thought about this and can't be the only one. Its like that with my rambox as well. Curious if the regularbed folks have that gap. Only a little bit of water enters that area so I've just left it as is.

It's a pickup truck bed, they are not sealed by design. The are engineered to be open to the elements and drain water, sure you can add a cover but it will never be completely sealed like a car or suv.

All rambox trucks have this gap. Regular beds do not. I solved it with weatherstripping...

Absolute genius. Thank you very much. My thought on this is not so much of completely sealing the area…I’m ok with some air circulation, it’s more of a security, so someone doesn’t take a peak inside the bed.

If course, I know if someone wanted to get in, they would just cut at the top, but what they don’t see, is more important.
