Just updated my Fuelly records:
2019 Ram 5.7 AVG = 15.4 (up .3). This is 122 trucks over 370k miles
2019 Ram 5.7 etorque AVG = 15.8 (unchanged). THis is just 24 trucks over 62k miles.
If i had a rebel, I would expect just under the above figures.
I've tracked Ford, GM, and Ram trucks on...
I wouldn't put too much stock in what other people say regarding their MPG unless they tell you 2 things and you actually trust them to tell you the truth:
1) They hand calculate and record every trip (fuelly)
2) They have adjusted the speedometer for tire size changes and have confirmed it is...
I would say the majority of the difference felt was the 1" less sidewall that the air suspension truck had. However, i would also not doubt that air suspension may be slightly less smooth than the standard coils when truck is empty. Towing, however, should give the advantage back to the air...
I have actually no idea if or when anything is actually coming. We do know they are working on something for tailgate or bed entry..but they could decide to never bring it to market.
My timeline is actually 2021 or after to upgrade to a 5th gen. By then my 4th gen will be at or over 150k miles...
I agree. FCA and Ram are pretty good at coming up with functional/practical designs/features that maybe others have tried or thought of but not been real successful at. Two things that quickly come to mind are Ramboxes and etorque - both of which GM had versions of earlier (ramboxes on the...
Just shuffling through concept vehicle on allpar. Remember the Rampage?
https://www.allpar.com/cars/concepts/dodge/rampage.html
It had the slide out and pivot down ramp tailgate design (which there is a patent for). And apparently the bumper pivoted down to expose an area to slide in 48" wide...
Why don't you think that it is possible this is caused by the sun? Just google "window reflection melting siding"
Outside of a surrounding buildings window I could see this being caused my the exterior chrome window trim combined with the side view mirror and possibly some reflecting of the...
Agree with gliderpilot. This has all the tell-tail signs of being caused by the sun reflecting off something and being magnified.
Keep in mind this can happen from surrounding things not related to the truck, even windows of neighboring buildings.
I think you will be fine going with the 3.21 as it has 8 speeds vs your chevy's 6sp. The additional transmission gears really make for the lower gear ratio in the ram. Plus 5.7 has more horsepower/torque than 5.3. Most publications/comparisons seem to have only 3.92 geared Ram trucks, however...
They could be going off the door stickers. Each list available payload capacity. Subtract that from the GVWR and you get the as-configured curb weight.
Other comparisons do actually weigh the trucks.

Asked each manufacturer to send their best towing truck
3rd = Ford 3.5 ecoboost with 3.55
2nd = GMC 6.2 V8 with 3.42
1st = Ram 5.7 V8 etorque with 3.92
Ram was more stable, the most comfortable, the most efficient...
Rams have always been heavier, which i don't mind.
Less aluminum sheet metal. Ramboxes. Air ride. 33 gal tank, cast iron block v8, and nicer interior components all add up...
I think that is the heaviest curb weight i've seen though

https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2019-ford-f-150-vs-chevrolet-silverado-vs-ram-1500-pickup
3rd Place = Chevy. Disliked the ride, interior, and value
2nd Place = Ford. Worse ride/control when towing than Ram and slightly...
My largest gripe with ramboxes with tonneau cover is that at the top of the boxes your bed is no longer 48" wide. The moveable tie down rings on the rails project into the bed too far so you cannot stack any 48" wide sheet materials taller than those rings. They should design the rail and tie...
As the scores show, only exterior design/fit and finish was where Ram truly struggled. Outside of that, it was tight due to the performance advantage of the 6.2. Considering the test truck was equipped with 3.21 and no etorque i think it performed quite admirably.
They are all good trucks, so...
