2025-2026 Ram 1500 Known Problems – Engines, Transmissions, Electronics

Tim Esterdahl | February 26, 2026

(Excerpt)

If you are shopping for a 2025-2026 Ram 1500, here is a list of known problems affecting these model years.

This list has been compiled using information from NHTSA.gov, forums, Facebook groups and our own reporting plus issues I have encountered on the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO I purchased as a longer-term review truck.

Link to Article and List

Overall, the 2025-2026 Ram 1500 trucks have climbed quite high on most reliability lists (shocking, I know!) and there are more happy owners right now versus other brands that I’ve reported on in the past few years.

Interesting to see that reliability is improving according to that article, mine has had (still has) every problem listed there. The main issues for me is an erratic shifting transmission that sometimes is silky smooth and sometimes absolutely terrible. Also the occasional time when the dash doesn't come on even after the recall was performed, so I just drive with the traffic when that happens. That and the several trailer modules that have been replaced, as a bonus the guys are not careful when pulling the back seat to reach the module and scratched all the plastic around the seat frame and the the door sills. Personally, I am very sour on this brand. Hopefully others will have more luck than me.

Yup. I’ve had most of those issues. Good to see I wasn’t alone?

Interesting the article states :

While the same month Consumer Report comes out to state the complete opposite.
Per the article "...it's the only one to receive our lowest reliability rating."

Honestly, that doesn't surprise me. It seems it's either feast or famine with issues on these trucks. Some people have no issues and others seem to have all of the issues. Sadly, I'm in the latter. They are all situated now so I'm good but it wasn't fun going through it at the time.

Sure, not fun, but that fact they did eventually get addressed is a good sign.
Ram is my preferred truck but hanging out on this board, made me start researching other trucks too.
Hopefully there will be more posts like yours about they addressing these issues.

Ive seen that FB group post, the anti hurricane "mechanic" doesnt even know that the turbo isnt cast into the head or the exhaust manifoldand has said that the cylinder head, exhaust manifold and turbo are all one cast part. He also repeatedly posts the same torn down SO hurricane (in the silver 1500) as a new problem when in fact its the same truck over and over again, IDK that Id put any validity in his comments.

In contrast, Mark Dodge has said theyve seen no engine replacements or issues at their dealership aside from batteries and t-stats on the early Jeeps. HO's have never had the thremostat issue. UC5 sucks, period, its not specific to the 25/26 model

They discuss the hurricane in this interview

My truck has the effected purge hose but Ive had no issues and not taken it in for the hose or the dash. IMO, people need to keep in mind that the only people we hear from are those with issues.
I have no complaints other than how slow UC5 is and Ive had no issues with my truck. I did get a check engine light the other day and the code P1DF3 which was PCM not properly initalized which most often is related to a weak battery. When I looked at the voltage, the battery voltage read 12.1V so I suspect the battery is going bad which Ram is notorious for all the way back to 2019
