Digital Key setup 2025 Laramie

Happy New Year! We are starting to see updates move, as we stated in a different thread regarding the restart of the Telematics Box Module (TBM) update for the Uconnect Box Error Message.

As soon as we get some sort of confirmation that the update specific to Digital Key activation is back in progress, we will let you all know. Our expectation is still that we will have those "rolling" launches and that we can get forum members into the initial one/s.

As always, we are sorry that this was delayed from October and continue to look forward to getting this out to all of you!

I don’t have “an iron in this fire”, but I do appreciate seeing RamCares at least put up some information that they have available. Thxs

Was there something we needed to do to get on the list of early adopters? I know you got VINs in other forums, but I don’t believe it was ever requested here.

Haha heck yes sign me up! Would love to be able to use my phone on my tungsten like I do for my 5yr old BMW X7.

Hi there, at this time no further action is needed. We will announce what the next steps are once we have more insight.

If we continue to see this slide another quarter, I’d encourage folks to start writing concerned customer letters to the various editorials and media brands. I’ve listed their contact info below for convenience.

I think it’s counterintuitive for RAM to be considered for “Truck of the Year” or other accolades, for metrics based on consumer satisfaction when this is all going on.

Consumer reports lead to press, leads to change.

Not sure if anyone else is having this issue- I downloaded the recent OTA update for my 2025 Rebel Level 2, and I have the most recent update to the Ram app that shows the digital key tile. When I try to pair the phone to the truck, it gives me an error message. I attached a screenshot. I can't seem to get it to go. @RamCares - any guidance?

Hi there, the digital key function is not active for the 2025 model years. We will continue to update this thread along the way.

You must be one of the “unicorns” that have the tile in the app. I think most of us were under the impression that if you had that tile, you’d be able to pair and use the SPAAK feature. The Ram Cares comment seems to indicate something different - that no 2025 models have the SPAAK enabled. But we know of at least one on this forum that does have it enabled.

This is really getting out of hand. Either the feature works or it doesn’t. How can a huge company like FCA take almost 2 years to figure this out. Doesn’t give me much confidence.

So what does "not active" mean? My build sheet lists GX6P - "smartphone as a key capable". So the module is there. Is there another OTA update that is coming out that will "activate" it? If so, when? Or will it require a dealer to activate?

Yes, as mentioned previously in this thread, we are awaiting further instruction from our corporate engineering teams on release timing. We are expecting this update to be released in small waves of launches to ensure a smooth and trouble-free customer experience. If you have any additional questions, feel free to refer back to post #486 and #541 for details.

This would indicate that the update is ready, pending OTA distribution. How does that differ from what we learned from the TSB’s released mid-2025 when the update was first published?

We’ve been waiting in limbo for this update to “release in small waves” but as far as everyone is aware, we’re still at Wave 0.

"smooth and trouble-free customer experience" Anything released now will be a better than the cluster we have had with SPAAK. Unless RAM is really afraid of bricking trucks let the damn update loose!!

Is y'alls intent to not carry your key FOB anymore and only use your phone? Seems like asking for trouble to me. I use the app to remote start in the cold or heat and unlock if need be. Key FOB has my house key so it goes with me regardless.

The advertised feature has more implications than just not carrying your keys. I admit, not carrying my keys and relying solely on SPAAK makes me a little nervous as well. However, there are times when I drive somewhere and then go for a cycling ride and not having my FOB would be great (really cuts down on the wind resistance, LOL). There is also the feature where I can text a digital key to someone that may need to borrow my truck. Say I'm at work or out with the wife and my son needs to use my truck to move out of the house. I wouldn't want his independence to be delayed by waiting for me to return with the FOB. I could just text him a digital key along with the location of the boxes I've been saving up for this day.

I don't think of the SPAAK as some critical feature that makes or breaks the truck. However, I do think of it as an advertised feature when I ordered my truck that should be there. Much like the 360 trailer cameras and the automated parking(both of which they removed after I ordered it).

I have two other vehicles that have the option to leverage phone as a key. The BMW works flawlessly. Lucid has a lag where I sometimes stand infront of the door waiting 10 seconds for the system to work. But it's nice to not have to remember the key.

You can text it to someone else? First I have heard that.
Don't forget to shave your legs. You know? Wind resistance. Lol.

From google:

Sharing a digital key via text is done through your smartphone's wallet app (Apple Wallet or Google Wallet) or the car manufacturer's app. Select the key, tap "Share" or the menu button, choose the recipient, and send the invitation via SMS, email, or messaging app. The recipient clicks the link to add the key to their device.

RAM used to have it mentioned on their site(when I ordered the truck). Just like the autopark (again, I'm more than capable of parking my truck without it, but handy for my young drivers? maybe)

Not sure how I never thought of shaving my legs for that extra bit of aerodynamics!!!! Wife is gonna need new blades after I get done with this!!! LoL

thanks for the chuckles - it’s been one of those days and reading your posts today was a welcome release. Not an easy thing given how many of us are more than a little perturbed by this whole SPAAK debacle.
