What did you do to your Ram today???

How do you like that tablet holder? I need to get a mount for my winter trip
i love it.
costs more but it's been great. stands up to high speed desert runs and it's easy to put the tablet in/ take it out.

they recommend doing it the horizontally but i'm used to seeing navi in vertical and so far it hasn't let me down yet after all these trips and all these high speed runs.

do it!

just got back from towing our 5th wheel 10 days on a trip thru arizona, utah, and new mexico on some of the roughest crappy roads you could imagine. incredible scenery at monument valley and Moab and around Page Az. tho.

I've found CarPlay has a FAR better integration with Uconnect. Full screen maps and cluster turn by turn. Both things android auto does not do. Kind of sad to see Google falling behind like this.
I don't think it's on Google. I had a rental two months ago, Ford Bronco. My android auto Google maps was full screen. The problem is Uconnect interface.

Honestly... as a consumer when I use my iphone and it all works... and I use Android Auto and it doesn't. It doesn't look or feel like a Uconnect issue. It looks and feels like an Android Auto issue. One they need to resolve. In the end as the customer I DGAF if it's billy bob joe's fault. I just want it working correctly and it's out of my hands.

So @RamCares you would see a LOT of chatter about this. Can you all look into what it would take to resolve this?

My most recent issues on my truck with Android Auto was an Android Auto issue. Alerts would silence radio, but not return radio to normal volume. Had to remove AA updates on my phone and it started working again. As for full screen maps, not an issue for me. I wouldn't want that anyways as I like the split screen with my media

Android Auto sends instructions to Uconnect with API's and tells Uconnect to process those data. If Uconnect says NOPE, not gonna do it, well, then it's Uconnects fall isn't it?

Would you recommend the average ram truck owner get a skid plate for the engine?
I’m looking at the barricade cat protection skid. A couple of reasons- it’s thinner therefore less heavy than most, gives some protection to cats, crossover exhaust pipes, and transmission plastic pan, and price is good compared to others. I don’t off-road, maybe across an open field where we hunt is it. So the need of the heavy plates /skids isn’t necessary.

Oh... that looks nice, and really living in a suburb... I like it for the cat protection the most. Any minor deterrent to a pirate recycler and I am in!

Looks like Barricade either bought out Skeerdycat, or is just making a copy cat product . But seeing as how Skeerdycat appears to be no longer in exist, I'm guessing Barricade bought them. I have a Skeerdycat one sitting on the side of my garage because it cracked, and then one of the rear mount bolts broke.

American Trucks has both on their online site. Skeerdy Cat is a little thicker and more expensive. I have just been looking and do not know any particulars on either as far as the skid quality. I have used barricade products/ bumpers in the past on a Jeep build and they held up well and powder coating was good. Did your break under normal on road driving and flex? Or off roading?

I do take my truck off road, but never high centered it, so shouldn't have been from damage during that. If you look at reviews of the skeerdycat skid plate on American Trucks, there are photos someone else posted showing the exact same thing mine did. Where it cracks is a stress point and a hard angle at a bend at the front. The thinner gauge steel and the way the metal is bent with a hard 90° corner right there is the issue. More of a design flaw. I have tried reaching out, multiple times, to Skeerdycat customer support from their website, with absolutely zero response. And the RAM car cover/skid plate is showing as unavailable on their website. I'm guessing is American Trucks has any, they are just selling off warehouse inventory
