E torque alternator.

I'm happy to hear a couple people have received replacement parts to get them rolling again. it gives me some hope. we do NOT have the same consumer protections up here in Canaderp but I'm hoping a replacement will be on route shortly. They supposedly expedite replacement parts when an in warranty vehicle is off the road, so we shall see. In the meantime, I'm rocking a Bright white Grand Caravan rental/loaner while waiting for the parts. Did I mention I miss my truck? lol

Well, I got my truck back today from the dealership and it’s all fixed. I called Ram about a week and a half ago to complain/provide my displeasure that I may have to wait a couple of months or more to get a new GMU. Without raising my voice (which I typically do in these situations) during our phone conversation, they said what we can do for you is get the part expedited for you. After a few days, I was contacted by a claims specialist who said they are working on it. On Tuesday, I received an email from them saying they would be in touch with me next week with an update. I responded to the email politely, but with factual information basically saying this is rediculous. Today, I got a phone call saying the dealership received my part. I called the dealership around 11:00 AM and they said they weren’t sure if they received it yet or not but would know in about an hour. I called them back and they confirmed they had the part. I said ok, when will you get the truck fixed. They said today or tomorrow and they would let me know. Around 3:00 PM, they called and said the truck was fixed.

So, if you are currently waiting on getting your GMU fixed, I would highly recommend you reach out to Ram and ask them to expedite the part to the dealership.

All of which should not be necessary to fix a known (by this point) problem.
<rant off>

So...what's the contact info to get the part expedited to the dealership? Calling the service department?

I called 800-423-6343. This number is for Jeep, Dodge, Ram and Chrysler, but just go through the phone prompts and eventually you tell them your call is in reference to Ram.

Called my dealership yesterday asking for an update. Part apparently shows a due date of 3/24 (which could/will change) and the backlog is down to 2,800 (roughly 2/3 of what it was when I got put on the backorder list).

Call Valley CJDR in Ohio 419-636-4594. They called me and said they received two new MGUs in yesterday 11th.

My truck was diagnosed in December as needing a replacement MGU, dealership ordered at that time. Driving to work Mar 19th, it failed completely. Dealership handled this fantastically, towed a loaner to my work and loaded up my truck and took it back. Now I wait, I think I’ll do as a previous poster did and call Ram directly to try and get this expedited.
They gave me a Durango in its place, not a horrible replacement.

Called the dealership yesterday for an update on the timeline. As predicted, the arrival date moved to 4/7. Since the last call to the dealership (two weeks ago), wait list is down ~200. Parts guy recommended I call Ram (866-726-4636) and give my repair order number and the dealer's order number to expedite it.

man, this thread is hard to read. Really has me a little scared for my 2023, particularly since I don't drive a lot so the mileage is going be low when warranty comes up. Thinking I might need to look into doing an extended warranty for the first time in my life.

Best of luck to everyone that has this issue coming up, RAM really needs to prioritize this. As stated, those of us that really like these RAMs are not going to buy another with this issue, and RAMs response, looming in our minds.

Also concerning is the question of the (future) hemi vs Hurricane sales in MY 26’ and beyond. The fewer hemis sold (presuming they may still use e-torque), the fewer parts in inventory since the Hurricane isnt using that system.

With et being mandated from 23-24 plus all of them optioned from 19-23, thats quite a few trucks running around with them. Hope they keep an adequate supply.

i wish this was not a issue. i buy used and it cut down on my choice pool. i passed on some really nice trucks because they were ET.

smart, when shopping last year I wasn't as informed as I should have been about this issue.

I am in this predicament myself now, 2023 with 21,000 miles and I started getting a burning rubber smell in the cab. Took it into the dealer and they found the etorque unit was seizing up causing the serpentine belt to be dragging and making the burning rubber smell. It has now sat on their lot for 1 week. They tell me a date of February 27th for part but not to hold my breath on this. Luckily they got me into a new Dodge Charger loaner. I need a truck though. Hopefully we all get the parts soon
Just an update to my post. Truck went in on February 12th, I got it back March 24th. New unit, belt, tensioners, pulleys. All under warranty. Now to drive and monitor. Hope this remains fixed and not a common problem.

Great you got it back but that too long of down time for an hours worth of work, that s sad Ram. Parts I know, still sad. Probably not common as I m sure there are 100K mile etorques .

Service called yesterday, Apr 16th is the latest arrival date 🙄. I also called Ram support yesterday to try and escalate this delivery.

ET owner's were hoodwinked, bamboozled. i hope some engineers are hanging their heads in shame. i hope their proud of themselves.

Well, my alternator finally quit Saturday. I was 40 miles from home traveling on two lane highways and I got an alert "Auto Start/Stop Service Required." I changed my display to the battery voltage and sure enough, voltage was at 12v instead of 14v. I watched it the rest of the way home. As it dipped below 11v, warning display of "some systems have reduced power" popped up. When it dipped below 10v, the warning display was "cruise control no longer available" and "blind spot monitoring no longer available." I made it home with the battery at 9.8v.

Calling the dealership today to coordinate towing it to the dealership and getting a loaner.

Edit providing update: Called Chrysler Care. Expedited part. Called dealership to arrange for towing and loaner car. Because it's not under the powertrain warranty, but instead under some "environmental" warranty, it doesn't qualify for automatic approval for a loaner car (according to my SM). Called Chrysler Care again to ask for loaner and towing.

Add me to the list. Etorque started grinding last week. The whine started about February.
