So i have had issues changing my tire sizes in alfa obd. I would get ABS errors among other codes and not being able to clear them . I like Alfa obd i have used it for plenty of things. But recently i got the jscan for android and paid the $24 . It is alot easier and more user friendly for changing tire size. I havnt used jscan for anything else i am just throwing this out there that for me jscan was easier for tire change. Hope this helps someone.

I used jscan as well, but I have an iPhone. Here’s a thread that you may be interested in

X2 on JScan. Apple friendly and easy to navigate and use. I’ve adjusted my tire size and it was cake. Looking to do the factory bed LED’s in the future and will use JScan to enable those.

I currently use AlfaOBD but may switch to JScan. AlfaOBD works but it's not the most user-friendly system out there. Lately, I got 35s and have been fine tuning my speedometer. I don't have an android phone so I have to use my laptop and it sucks lugging it around.
For 24 bucks, JScan seems worth it. I think AlfaOBD was 50 or so.

With Black Friday coming up, think about buying an Amazon Fire Tablet, as they sell them very cheap every year. You should be able to load the Jscan app on it; and it's a lot smaller and lighter than a laptop.

New to the 5th Gen forums so apologies if this question has been asked and answered. If so please redirect me to the proper thread.

I have a 2019 RAM 1500 with remote start and auto dimming rearview mirror. I would like to upgrade by adding the auto off high beams, bed lights and the key fob with the auto tailgate release. My vehicle already has the light switch with the “auto” setting and the damper for the tailgate so I will acquire the other hardware to do these upgrades (rearview mirror with forward sensor to detect oncoming lights, etc., bed light kit and new fobs with tailgate release button). I also know I need to get the security bypass cable (OBD port on one end and 2 plugs on other to go into the security gateway module) to by pass the security gateway module to program these features. So, once I have all of these parts installed what do you recommend for a Bluetooth OBD transmitter and do you recommend AlphaOBD OR Jscan to do the actual programming? I have an android tablet and an iPhone so it’s really a matter of the most user friendly and full featured program to use (Jscan or alpha OBD).

Your thoughts please.

Thank you

If you have an android phone use alfaObd, if you use iPhone, use Jscan.

HSKR R/T,

Thank you very much for the kind reply. Since I have both types of devices and could therefore use either Jscan or AlphaOBD which is the more user friendly and has more programming/upgrading features for the 5th generation RAMs?

Also, which interface would you recommend to plug into the bypass cable to communicate with either alphaOBD or Jscan?

Thanks again.

I've never used Jscan, because I'm an android guy. I haven't had any issues using alfaObd.

As for devices, the vlinker MC+ is the last one I bought. And I'm using my TazerDT as my SGW bypass.

Currently, JScan can program key FOBs and AlfaOBD cannot.

Brutal_HO, thank you for your kind reply. Do you know if Jscan can also activate the remote tailgate release, the auto off high beams and activate the bed lights? I plan on getting the hardware for all of these upgrades (key fobs with the tailgate release button, the bed light kit and the proper rearview mirror with forward sensor). From what I have read, it seems that each of these upgrades requires not only the appropriate hardware but also programming of the BCM and RF hub to recognize and activate these upgrades so… Can Jscan activate these upgrades? Thank you again.

redz72,
Did you ever install the factory bed lights and program them with Jscan? If so what was your procedure on Jscan to actually get them programmed after installing the kit hardware and wiring? Thank you.

Remote tailgate release does not require programming, at least not beyond just programming the new key fob to the RF Hub.

HSKR R/T,

Thank you for the info. on the auto tailgate release via Jscan. Do you know if Jscan will program the auto high beam function and the bed lights? Thank again.

Auto high beam yes, but you have to have the correct rear view mirror

All, thank you for confirming that Jscan can program the key fobs, auto high beams and the bed lights. So now where do I get the step by step procedures using Jscan to program these features? If these procedures have been listed already on somewhere on these forums please direct me to those threads. Thank you again.

Theblet. Thank you. I am going to get the proper mirror with the sensor module on it. Do you have the step by step procedures on Jscan to activate the auto high beams? Thank you.

Yup! See this post. If you read through the thread, i believe there are instructions for key fobs also.
