Awesome. DM me if you want to talk trip planning. I've been planning this one all winter and relied on the internet for 'must see roads' so anxious to finally get started. I have 2 weeks baked in for delays, breakdowns, etc just in case.



Yeah, I need to change my language. Around motorcycle riders you just say "I'm taking the bike" but at work where most of my colleagues are mountain bike riders, I get befuddled looks when I say "rode to Asheville this weekend and back" and they're like "no effing way"

i got most of the route mapped out on GMap, just need to finalize it to see daily drive time and make reservations for campgrounds and weekly lodging.
it's frigging June and I only finalized the first week LOL

told the shop i'm taking 2 months off and they're actually very supportive of it. my friend (the shop owner) just told me to go enjoy it and not worry about the shop while I'm still single because he regret not doing it when he had the chance (he literally told me way before "if you want to go somewhere, just go! don't wait for me, don't let the shop stop you from going. just let me know ahead of time so we can schedule less customers while you're gone.") my part time office jobs... they aren't so keen on that lol but i already made my mind if they don't approve it then I put in my 2 weeks lol i don't take home much going to those anyways. but yeah I'm reserving 2 months just so I can be more flexible and should put me just in time to skip the summer season at Glacier National Park so I can do Going to the Sun Road without needing a reservation.

I Googled it. Logan Pass is the highest point on Going-to-the-Sun Road at 6,646 feet (2,026 m). The road is 32 miles long with winding turns and hairpin curves. Construction began in 1921 and was completed in 1932. Amazing feat of Engineering and construction given what era it was built and what had to be done.

If you’re thinking about bouncing into Canada, Check out Waterton Lake National Park just north of the border above Glacier. The lake crosses the international border. This is the Prince of Wales hotel overlooking the lake.

oh man i can't imagine how much it costs to stay there for one night.
edit: googled. not bad tbh. set my check in day some random midweek in September and it's about ~300 USD. Compared to Fairmont Banff Springs it's a steal LOL

It’s a gorgeous hotel In a pristine location. Stayed there once. All wood structure with a 4 story stone fireplace in the center. In town they do boat tours all the way down the lake to the south end Stateside. Nice tour.
Just a note about Glacier National Park camping and hiking. LOT’S of bears! Both Grizzly and Blacks.
I’ve stayed at the Banff Springs as well. Pretty opulent! Actually any of the original CN Hotels are historic and beautiful. Built for the wealthy railroad traveller of the day.

Installed my OpenRoad 4wd 13k winch today. Pretty easy install. Less than 1/2 an hour from opening the box to operational.

I was disappointed to find out my truck never had the soft open tailgate installed from the factory. A little surprised too because it has the factory bed liner and lights. Oh well, a $30 purchase from Amazon for the DeeZee shock absorber thingy and it is all good now. Ram does us a favor and installs the mounting knobs for the shock whether the truck is delivered with tailgate assist or not. Whole job took about 5 minutes.

(i assume all the public areas are open to public, including non-guests)

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention about the bears there, as I encountered them myself and when I warned other people on the trail about them, they took out their cameras and ran towards the area. I skidaddled! No idea of the outcome of their photo opportunity, I wasn’t waiting around to find out.
As for the Banff Springs, there are other less costly (but nice) places to stay and at $1100 USD, I’d tour around the hotel and maybe have a drink or something to eat there. It was a lot cheaper when I went even in CAD!
As an aside, there is a huge campground just outside the Village. It’s called Tunnel Mountain. Just outside the Village, take the Gondola up to the top of Sulpher Mountain. Spectacular view!

LOL! The two clips back there are worse than most but I used a panel clip tool and they popped right out after raising the center part of them. Maybe I got lucky because I am not especially good!!!

I did have some trouble with the wiring plug, the red thing didn't want to release. So, I just left it attached and let it sit on the tailgate while I worked. If I ever get around to installing LED tails, I'll have to revisit it and it'll probably give me a hard time.

i do have a fear for those animals. that's the reason why I switched over to GFC from my roof tent and bed rack setup lol (i much rather be just doing my daily backups and uploads inside the camper instead of sitting outside)

OMG yeah, you can totally let the tailgate go as soon as it unlatches and it will just smoothly glide down. Seems a little bit easier to raise too.

Took my oldest to Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef and Fishlake Natl Forest. We were lucky enough to snag one of the 6 dispersed spots at Cathedral Valley within Capitol Reef NP. Also got to test the bed drawer kitchen I've been building the last couple of months.
