I've done many Mojave trails in an SUV and concur with your advice - suspension and tires are everything. There are hotels and restaurants and bushes/shovels for everything else ;-)
I see your cover is coated. How hot does the bed get?
My cover is non-treated. It is shiny AF and I keep it clean all the time. I was concerned about heat and dirt sticking to the coated cover. What's your experience?
I test drove multiple full sized trucks, including a RAM with a Hemi. The I6 did it for me. Absolutely smooth ride and great power delivery. I don't know why anyone would go with a Hemi. The rebellion against I6 turbo and Hemi's return puzzle me.
The drive 3K and sometimes 4K miles per month...

Love Mini for that reason. Build your own.
Would love a 6'4 bed in a Laramie L1 trim. That is as "advanced" as I'd ever want to go. If Big Horn comes with air conditioned power front seats, I am switching the trims.
I had the same question about Laramie and 6'4" bed. Do ya'll order these directly from RAM or does the wait and see game pay off? I found only a few trucks that I like and all of them are on the other side of the country.

Do you really believe that adding an air filter alone will significantly improve ride experience? The additional noise is fun for a few minutes. On long rides it is just background growl. You will not get any significant amount of power out of one mod. And K&N will get your money. Save...
Joe's Truck Shop in Summerville (SC) did a fantastic job applying Rhino liner. I opted for the UV protection, too. $699 out of the door. Next stop - DECKED Cargo Glide.
