You don't happen to have a usb thumb drive plugged in somewhere for music do you? You could also try a factory reset on the unit itself and then try to apply the update when prompted. Did it happen to show what version number you were updating to?
A corroded active air dam connector on the driver side of the air dam assembly is a very likely culprit. It's part of the same circuit. I'd check that for signs of water intrusion or corrosion and start there.
I keep a decent road kit in the toolbox and its mostly cordless for grunt work. Ran power to it and installed inverter on a remote switch. Threw in Milwaukee multi battery charger and a few other assorted necessary chargers. Factored in the switch so I can recharge on my long commute days...
