So buying a new camper that has pre-wired for Furion camera. The camera comes with another 5" screen you are supposed to mount in the truck. I would like to see if I can get it to show on the 12" screen instead. I'm assuming i will need to use a different camera but more interested in what I will need to add to my truck. My truck currently only has the tailgate camera. I don't have any plugs on the bumper like some do. I also do not have the fancy mirror. What parts would I all need to make this work?

Vehicle information would help.

Furrion prewire is only a camera mount and 12 volt source on the camper. No data cable. To get the image from camper camera to 12" screen, you'll have to hardwired camera. Then, you'll have to bypass the video in motion timeouts as the image will not remain on the display for more than a few seconds when the vehicle is in forward motion. That's if you're planning to use it as an observation camera so it will stay active while driving.

Now, if you're just wanting camera to display only when reversing, you can install a Mopar camera(there are a few camera options) on the camper, hardwire it to the tongue of trailer, then make a jumper that connects to the tailgate wiring whenever you tow the camper. Truck will treat it like a regular reverse camera.

I have links for those two methods interested. Again, vehicle year/model will help to narrow down options.

Wow totally forgot to put my truck info in my bad. It's a 2023 Laramie with the 6.7. The only camera I have right now is the tailgate one so I have no clue if all the wires are there for a hardwire trailer camera?

Pre wire usually does not even include the camera or monitor. As others have said its only a hole in camper with a 12v wire that is connected to marker light feed = lights have to be on for system to work. Than the camera to monitor is wireless.
Here is the one i use. Amazon.com
I use velcro to hold it to the dash down on the floor. Since you only need to look at it for backing up it works good down there
When not using it i keep it in the camper.

You might have better luck in the Homepage - HD Rams forum. This is the 5th Gen 1500 Rams site.

If you haven't bought the camper yet, make sure you pay for a third party RV Inspector. New RVs in the last 10 years by the major manufacturers are notorious for crap (to be generous) build quality.

Im interested. I have a camper and want to add a backup camera to one of the auxiliary inputs for the 12" screen. I have a 23 rebel.

Unfortunately, none of the options I've found are going to be cheap if you want to see it while in motion.

For reverse only, Option A is gonna involve hardwiring a Mopar camera to the camper and having a pigtail that connects to the tailgate camera on your truck. You will need to disconnect a harness to swap between the tailgate camera and camper on each use. Check post #17 from the link below. This is likely going to be your cheapest option.

So what are the aux camera options on the 12" screen? When you click them it just gives a blue screen. Not sure what these would be reserved for, but seems like a great place to be able to add a camper camera without having to switch the backup view. Is this a possible option, just costly?
