Might be just a coincidence that it happened at same time you took bumper off but the module is part of the tail light so trace back the harness from tail light and see perhaps if the harness got cut or pinched when bumper was removed/installed. If all else fails remove negetive battery cable...

Not necessarily, a misfire could be a bad spark plug, coil pack or fuel injector which I don't believe would be covered under powertrain. If it's lifter or valve spring that is inside the engine that would be covered. At least that's how it was explained to me. Bumper to bumper would cover all...
