For a several months after purchasing the 25 Rebel, the truck would unlock when I approached (with key FOB in pocket) the driver door (within 3-4ft) without touching the door handle. Recently, proximity/passive unlock only works when I grab the door handle. OM only mentions proximity/passive unlock using door handle. Was I imagining the proximity unlock w/o touching the door handle?

It only works when you grab the door handle. It doesn't unlock when you approach the vehicle and never has. That's not an option.

It is an option that is listed on certain models and this feature not working on those certain models has been a discussion on this forum since the '25s came out. My limited is supposed to have this feature but it has never worked. Others that have had this feature work on their vehicles have had the dead battery issue so they may or may not be related.

No, you guys are confusing two different features- proximity WAKE UP, and passive entry.
It is never a factory feature on Ram trucks, no matter what year, for the doors to automatically unlock by just approaching the vehicle.
Proximity wake up is when you get within about 20’ of the truck with a valid fob, and the welcome lighting comes on, but the doors would never have unlocked until you grab the handle.

I have the proximity wake up turned on but it has never worked. If it will drain the battery, I don't want it.
On a separate note, yesterday I was rolling up the driver window and it kept going back down. Now, the auto up is not working. I have to hold the switch.

If it senses an obstruction it will automatically roll back down. This is a safety feature to prevent kids and pets getting stuck in window. When I added my in channel vent visors, I had to force the window up the first few times by holding the button until the seals loosened up. And still, every now and then if I leave the windows open for a few days, it will "rebound" when closing, and I have to hold the button up.

That makes sense but there is no obstruction. Why would the auto up stop working altogether? I figured shutting the truck off over night would have resolved it but it didn't.

Roll window down, pressing and holding switch all the way down, and continue holding switch down for a few seconds. Then roll window all the way up, holding switch up the entire time, continue holding a few seconds after window is up. This will reset the auto up/down

Thanks. I'll try that.

Interesting that you say the truck used to unlock when you were in proximity. Our BMW’s do that and I love it. Mostly for the lock feature when your hands are full. But since I bought my ‘26 tungsten all it’s ever done was wake up and lower the running boards prematurely. I always had to grab the handle. But I have turned that off based on recommendation here as it potentially being the culprit of dead batteries.

You are correct. I meant the proximity WAKE UP has been an ongoing discussion not the unlock as that is not a feature. My Wake up has never worked although listed on the sticker but I'd rather not have a dead battery.

Wife's response to my confusion: "have you been checked for Alzheimers?" There is little doubt the truck would proximity unlock/wake up when I approached within 5ft or so, without touching anything. In fact, I didn't know about touching the door handle until it stopped unlocking on approach a few weeks ago, immediately after I changed some uconnect settings. That's when I discovered the door handle requirement in the OM. Guess I'll chalk it up to a life mystery.

Just to make sure - you don't have an aftermarket alarm system on your truck, right? With Compustar, there's a proximity unlock/lock feature that functions exactly as you describe remembering.

Well, considering it's been proven that it's not an option to unlock when you walk up to it, you are definitely mistaken. And how did you know it was unlocked? If you touch the door handles and open them, then of course it's going to be unlocked because you touched the door handle.

I was bummed when I realized my '26 Big Horn didn't have passive unlock. But with all the weirdness folks have been having with proximity wake up, I'm kinda glad that nothing happens until I press my unlock button.
